Max had already driven himself to the location specified by the kidnappers. He got out of the car, lugging 20 million in cash into the warehouse, demanding the release of the hostages.

The big bad boss Monkey had a prominent scar on his face that made him look terrifying. He took out several stacks of cash, checked for authenticity, and his eyes sparkled with greed once he confirmed it was real money. "Mr. Velona, you're really loaded. If you'd come sooner, Ms. Horigan wouldn't have suffered."

He signaled his men, and they immediately released Orlena.

After getting her freedom, Orlena immediately threw herself into Max's arms, crying, "Max, why did you only come now? I think I broke my leg... it hurts so much... they said they would assault me if you didn't come..."

Max held her, comforting her. But his eyes were fixed on Eloise not far away.

Eloise struggled hard, but her mouth was gagged, unable to say a word. She knew Max. For power, sacrificing Eloise meant nothing to him!

Max kept silent. He watched as Eloise's hope faded from her eyes as she struggled...

Monkey laughed evilly on the side, gently prodding Eloise's chin with a knife. "Mr. Velona, this woman is so beautiful, she's worth at least 200,000 dollars, right? You're already so rich, why not just save her too, or she'll be in big trouble."

200,000 wasn’t unbearable for Max. But he couldn't fork out that money. Harvey had already begun to suspect him, he couldn't risk Orlena also suspecting his relationship with Eloise! If Orlena found out and broke off their engagement, his years of hard work would go down the drain.

Faced with power and love, Max chose power.

Max didn't dare to look at Eloise's hateful eyes, so he turned around and said coldly, "I don't know her. Why should I save her?!"

Eloise had already anticipated this cruel and heartless ending. Her eyes became hollow. Tears slid down from the corner of her eyes.

Max was really heartless!

Max pretended not to see. He held Orlena and walked towards the car outside, Orlena pulled him gently, whispering, "Is this really alright? If she gets assaulted, Landon will be really heartbroken."

Max didn't answer, but lightly pressed on her leg.
