Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 205

Eloise's lips curled slightly at the corners. “What do you want me to ask?” There was a teasing note in her voice when she spoke.

Harvey was completely captivated by her faint smile, which was rarely seen in his presence. He didn't probe further but just reclined on the back of the chair, looking at her, and said with a hoarse voice, “It was a job I took on a while ago. I didn't even meet her!”

Eloise merely hummed in response.

Harvey kept on observing her as if waiting for something. But in the end, he didn't get what he was waiting for. He couldn't figure out what kind of reaction he wanted from her. Was it jealousy or a quarrel? But both were better than this lukewarm reaction.

Harvey's mood sank again, partly because of the death of his grandma at home and partly because of Eloise's attitude. He was unusually agitated, but he kept reminding himself—

A man had to keep his cool!

He wanted to start anew with her, so, of course, he was more thoughtful than before.

In the master bedroom of the villa, Eloise had her own walk-in closet. Harvey had prepared some clothes for her, and all of them were niche brands that Eloise often wore. Some were even identical to the ones in her wardrobe. Eloise always brought her work home, so he set aside a study for her.

Eloise was, of course, aware of Harvey's thoughtful gestures. Although she didn't respond, she was willing to coexist peacefully with him. So when he was in a bad mood, she would tolerate him to some extent, such as when he insisted on watching a movie in the home theater after dinner.

Eloise closed the file she had been working on. As she stood up, Harvey naturally held her fingertips. That light touch seemed even more moving than all their past intimate moments.

In Eloise's memory, Harvey was rarely this affectionate. He was more of a passionate lover in bed.

Eloise was taken aback. She couldn't help but look up at him. Harvey gently pulled her towards him, lightly wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “I've put on a horror movie and turned off the lights. You'll definitely be scared!”

Eloise smiled faintly. “Really? Is it that scary?”

Harvey loved to see her smile. He stopped, lightly scratching her delicate face with his hand before speaking in a low voice, “You look so good when you smile!”

Eloise felt a little uncomfortable. “Aren't we supposed to be watching a movie?”

Harvey chuckled and held her hand as they descended the stairs. Although it was just a home theater, it was quite large, almost a hundred square meters. In front of the curved giant screen was a set of sunken sofas. Under the dim light, he led her to sit down.

The movie he played was an old classic. It was labeled as a horror film, but it was more of a romance film disguised as a horror one.

Harvey was engrossed in the film. Eloise turned her head to look at him. In the darkness, no one could see anyone clearly, but Harvey noticed the moment she turned her head.

“What's wrong?” He put an arm around her shoulder, his hand lightly stroking her ring finger. This action made Eloise stiffen up.

In the darkness, he chuckled lightly. “Are you scared?”

Eloise denied it quickly. “No!”

Harvey chuckled again, gently pulling her into his embrace and caressing her face. “Do you like the movie?”

“It's okay!”
