They had been in this state for another two weeks. No sparks, no fire.
Harvey would ask Eloise out, and she would rarely say no. She would always accommodate his wishes, but she was always calm and gentle, different from the fiery temperament she once possessed.
In contrast to her calmness, Harvey was becoming more and more dissatisfied. He would rather have her lose her temper at him, even if it meant she might slap him across the face. Wasn't she always so feisty with him in the past?
Finally, he realized that when she loved him, she couldn't help but be cheeky and daring with him. Now that she no longer loved him, she treated him with respect, never offended him, and was ready to pick up and leave with dignity at any time.
To hell with dignity!
Harvey ended up getting drunk at the club. In the private booth, there was the usual crowd, even Max was there.
Riley rarely went out after his marriage. It was only because he heard Harvey was there that he came to keep him company. After all, Harvey and Eloise had done him a big favor with the Veronica situation.
Riley patted him on the shoulder. "How are you feeling? If you need, I can drive you home!"
Harvey, leaning back on the couch, exhaled smoke languidly. He looked irresistibly sexy. There were some girls in the booth, all stealing glances at him, but none dared to approach him, given his reputation for being standoffish. So, they settled for just admiring.
Riley guessed Harvey's predicament and chuckled. "With looks like yours, who could resist?"
"Cut it out!" Harvey shot him a sidelong glance and spoke in a low voice. "Isn't Eloise one of them? Riley… I've given her everything. Why can't she warm up to me? She used to be so attentive to me, blushing whenever she saw me, even enjoying...sex with me!"
Riley chuckled awkwardly. Women, unlike men, enjoyed sex when they were in love, but it was a struggle when they fell out of it! He didn't want to upset Harvey, so he suggested they leave. "You've had too much to drink. Let me drive you home. You have a court hearing tomorrow, right?"
Harvey shot him another glance. Then, he tossed his phone to Riley. "Call Eloise. She should still be at the Crescendo Sound Workshop. Tell her to come pick me up!"
Riley was stunned. Was he really that shameless? He chuckled awkwardly. "Harvey, are you actually drunk or just pretending?"
Harvey didn't answer, just stubbed out his cigarette and drank half a glass of brandy, intending to get himself completely drunk.
Riley was caught in a difficult position. He dialed the number after some thought. After four or five rings, Eloise answered. Riley quickly apologized with a laugh. "Eloise, it's Riley… Harvey's drunk. Could you possibly come to pick him up?"
Eloise had just finished a meeting.
Stuart had given her a great project, and she had just finalized a team. They were leaving for a business trip the next day and would be gone for about two weeks.
After hearing Riley's request, Eloise paused. She knew Harvey was upset, and it had something to do with her. She couldn't say she felt nothing, but she wouldn't feel sorry for him anymore.
They had broken up, and this was their relationship now. There were countless wonderful girls in the world. She believed that even without her, Harvey could find the love he desired with his qualities.
Eloise didn't refuse. She was leaving the next day and felt she should say something to Harvey. Eloise nodded, "Okay, send me the address. I'll be there in about half an hour!"
Riley was extremely grateful. "Eloise, you're so generous!"
Eloise joked with him, "Stop flattering me! Go home and spend time with Veronica!"
Riley immediately made a few cheeky remarks, which made Eloise laugh. However, after hanging up, he realized something was off. Eloise agreed to come, but she didn't inquire about Harvey's condition at all.
Riley felt a chill from head to toe. He used to have high hopes for them, but now, things were unclear.
After hanging up, Eloise prepared to leave, but when she looked up, she saw Dwight standing by the door with a gloomy expression, staring intently at her. Eloise spoke gently, "You did well just now!"
