Eloise seemed a bit dazed.
Harvey lightly rested his hand on her shoulder and casually asked, "Why did you bring the booze into the café?"
Eloise's mood inexplicably lifted.
She didn't hide anything from him, quietly saying, "I ran into someone I know, had a little chat."
Harvey's eyes were glued to her, then shifted to the "someone" behind her, coldly saying, "Ah, it's Max."
Compared to his nonchalance, Max looked quite tense.
He wasn't stupid, he could tell Harvey didn’t like him, not just because of Orlena but probably Eloise too.
The two men's gazes clashed, sparks seemingly flying in the air.
Eloise gently took Harvey's arm and whispered, "Let's go back."
Harvey nodded, withdrawing his gaze.
But then, Aliza walked out of the café, warmly greeting, "Harvey, is that you!"
She seemed to have just noticed Eloise was with him, surprised she asked, "Eloise, how are you with Harvey now? Didn't you and Max have..."
She suddenly stopped, seeming a bit hesitant.
What a reaction, most guys would've blown up at Eloise, but Harvey wasn't most guys. How could he let a scheming woman affect his mood?
He handed his laptop bag to Eloise, then took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket.
As he lit one, he casually said, "Has Max had a girlfriend before? I heard from Orlena that Max was her first love."
Aliza glanced at her son, looking a bit embarrassed. She quickly defended, "I meant Eloise's dad is an accountant at Velona Corporation."
Harvey exhaled a circle of smoke, lightly flicking the ash, saying, "I thought Max and Eloise had something before, and then he dumped her, I thought he was irresponsible."
