Tangled Temptations novel Chapter 64

Eloise really wanted to cheer him up.

She naturally wrapped her arms around his neck and affectionately called him "Daddy".

Harvey was a bit stunned at first, but then, a slight ripple stirred in his heart.

This ripple continued all the way to his office. Even Denise noticed that Attorney Horigan was in a great mood, and he looked even more handsome than usual.

At ten in the morning, Denise knocked on his office door.

Smiling, she said, "Attorney Horigan, Velona Corporation's legal advisor wants to meet with you! I've checked your schedule, and you're free at four this afternoon..."

"Nope!" Harvey responded indifferently. "The authorities have already taken Velona Corporation to court over financial issues. They can deal with their own mess."

Denise was a bit taken aback. The young owner of Velona Corporation was related to Attorney Horigan, yet Horigan didn't lift a finger to help them.

Maintaining her professional smile, Denise said, "Understood, Attorney Horigan."

She returned to her office and relayed the message to Velona Corporation's legal advisor.

Naturally, the news reached Max.

Max wasn't surprised.

This move from Harvey was clearly aimed at him. Considering he was lucky not to be fucked over by Harvey at this point, how could he possibly expect any help?

This crisis, although not severe, was enough to distract Max from his pursuit of Eloise and dealing with Angus.

Harvey was truly a big shot in the legal world, an expert in manipulation. Even though Max had been in the business world for many years and thought he was tough, compared to Harvey...

He felt completely outmatched!

Max was irritable.

He stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, chain-smoking cigarettes.

He remembered even during Velona Corporation's biggest crisis, he never smoked this frantically. Back then, Eloise would always gently say, "Smoking too much isn't good."

Then she would pop a mint candy into his mouth.

At that time, Max actually found her annoying. To him, Eloise was like an unsatisfying dish.
