Parker seemed pretty cheesed off, and he said, "Isn't this your place? Where the heck are you going at this ungodly hour?”
Parker was known to have a short fuse, and he had an air of domineering arrogance around everyone.
Everyone was scared of him, but Harvey didn’t give a hoot.
His tone became even more nonchalant, and he said, “I need to go back to check some documents.”
Parker was at his wit's end with him. He waved his hand and said, “Just get lost! You're a professional lawyer, always busy solving problems for others. Man, you’re swamped!”
Harvey’s tone was tinged with sarcasm, and he said, “Horigan Inc. pays me 8 million a year to be their legal consultant. I thought you knew, Dad!”
Parker picked up a knick-knack and hurled it, shouting, “Get the hell out!”
Harvey beat a hasty retreat.
No sooner had he sat in the car than his father followed him out. He opened the car door and yelled, “You're really something, aren't you? Driving home after downing all that booze? If you're so capable, why not just rocket off to space?”
Harvey got out of the car and handed the keys to the driver.
The driver was a longtime family employee. Seeing that the young master was in a foul mood, he didn't say much, just drove him to his apartment.
The car came to a halt.
Harvey slumped in the seat, he exhaled softly and said to the driver, “You can head back now!”
The driver left reluctantly.
Harvey just sat there, pulling a cigarette from his pocket and putting it to his lips.
The flame from the lighter illuminated his face.
He held the cigarette delicately between his fingers, inhaling slowly. The smoke filled his lungs, causing a painful sensation.
He found it oddly comforting.
He smoked four or five cigarettes in a row before getting out of the car and entering the apartment.
He opened the door, and the room was dim.
But it wasn't completely dark, and the living room curtains were drawn, and the soft moonlight filled the room, creating a beautiful and romantic atmosphere.
Harvey tossed his coat onto the sofa and tiptoed into the master bedroom, turning on a bedside lamp.
Eloise was sound asleep.
Her face was really pretty, resting on the pillow, her brown hair spread across it in an indescribably beautiful way.
