Everyone stopped smoking in unison, the synchrony was uncanny.

This scene made Eloise feel both embarrassed and irritated.

She had never tried to stop Harvey from smoking. He was a law unto himself at home, smoking even in bed. Sometimes when he was in a good mood, he'd plant a kiss on her.

He was such a cad!

However, it did give her a perverse pleasure to see all these high-ranking people groveling in front of Harvey.

With a charming smile, Harvey asked, "Ms. Laurent, is this respectable enough for you?"

Eloise knew that all the ugly rumors would crumble on their own, and many would rush to placate Harvey, and in doing so, clear her name.

But all of that seemed irrelevant now. The only thing she could see was Harvey.

Harvey guided Eloise through the crowd.

The crowd had already cleared a prime spot for Harvey and Eloise to sit. Several school leaders looked on at Eloise with affection, "Eloise, you should take good care of Attorney."

Eloise responded with a faint smile.

Throughout the evening, people kept coming over to Harvey's table to share a drink.

Harvey could hold his liquor, but he was mindful of who he was drinking with.

In this banquet hall, no one held more power than him, so he didn't need to respect anyone. But he maintained a polite demeanour, substituting water for alcohol, and exchanged pleasantries.

Eloise, accustomed to looking after him, naturally served him food.

Veronica was sitting across from her, looking unusually happy.

Finally, someone could take care of Eloise!
