Raymond overstated it a little. Quinta wasn't from the Anderson family after all.
Scarlett frowned because she didn't want to embarrass Clair. She had a lot of ways to deal with Quinta in private, and there was no need to settle with her on such occasions.
As Scarlett was about to speak, Quinta said, "Wow, I have to admit you're really good, Scarlett. You're divorced, but your ex-husband still stuck up for you. You're really popular with men, aren't you?"
They were so loud that more and more guests were looking at them. Henry was notified as soon as someone realized it was Quinta.
Clair happened to be with Henry. When he knew Scarlett was bullied, his face suddenly clouded.
'I brought Scarlett in myself. Who on earth had the nerve to bully her? Is he out of his mind?' Clair wondered.
"You're a real catch!" Quinta said with heavy irony.
Henry was unable to suppress his anger when he walked to Scarlett. As he approached them, he heard Quinta's words and was so angry that he almost threw his glass at Quinta.
But Clair spoke sullenly before Henry, "Scarlett is an honored guest of my birthday party, Quinta. How could you bully my guest of honor at my birthday party? Is that how you respect your elders?"
Clair's voice was not loud, but the hearts of the other guests lurched when he finished, not to mention how nervous the rest members of the Anderson family were. After all, Clair was one of the most influential figures in this circle.
Clair then said, "Guards, come in! Take Miss Rodriguez out!"
Then the faces of everyone in the Anderson family changed. They wanted to say something, but Clair's sullen face frustrated them.
Quinta then was kicked out, and Clair glanced around, "Rumors stop at the wise and I believe all of you here are wise men. Scarlett is a good girl. My greatest wish i s nothing more than to have a daughter. However, Henry's a boy. Today, I brought Scarlett in myself, and I'm sure everyone here has some conjectures of that. I confess that I would very much like Scarlett to be my daughter-in-law. But children these days do not like arranged marriages. Since Scarlett doesn't have feelings for Henry, I can't force her."
"But I would also be glad if Scarlett would treat me as her own father. Henry gave me no peace, and people said daughters are parents' sweet.” Clair then looked a t Scarlett, "If you don't mind, will you be my goddaughter to meet my wish, Scarlett?"
