"Tut-tut, I don’t think Clair has given up the idea of making Scarlett his daughter-in-law. Acknowledging Scarlett as his goddaughter is just a temporary fix."
Alexander said it as he watched Scarlett being whisked away by Clair.
When he finished, Raymond was even more downhearted.
Noticing Raymond's silence, he sipped his wine and nudged Raymond. "So, what do you think, eh?" he asked.
Raymond cast him a stony eye and asked, "Do you think it's hard to find a boxing gym in Adelpore City?"
Alexander was speechless and thought, 'It was only a joke. Is that really necessary?'
Clair had brought Scarlett onto the stage, and what he said put her in the center of attention again.
Raymond moved a few steps and could hear people around him talking about Scarlett.
"Clair is sixty years old and got a great eye for people.
He admires Scarlett so much, so I think Scarlett shouldn't be as bad as the rumors!" "Look, she had no stage fright at all on such a big stage!
"And if nothing else, Scarlett's appearance is really impeccable. I can see why Henry, known as a playboy, took a fancy to her. Honestly, If I were a man, I would court her, too!"
"My friends in the Juanton City say Scarlett is actually good. And she became a trending topic on social media several times after she got divorced. I suppose she really wanted to divorce Raymond, not play hard t o get or ask for more money as rumored!"
Raymond listened to the whispers about Scarlett and stared at Scarlett standing on the stage.
She wore a flower-embroidered long dress, and her long hair was tied up, revealing her alabaster neck. Henry said something to Scarlett, who stood between him and Clair, and she replied with a faint smile. Her dewy and brilliant eyes looked like the stars in the sky.
Raymond remembered how she spoke to him when they were initially married, how she gazed at him with brilliant eyes, and his reflection plainly evident i n the pupils of her black eyes.
