Looking at Scarlett, who was in a red dress not far away, Alexander could not help but curse, "What the hell!"
Stephen James raised his eyebrow next to him and asked, "What’s the matter?"
"Scarlett didn't ask Raymond for a single penny.”
Stephen laughed. "Who did you hear it from? If she didn't ask Raymond for money, how could she have the money to book this whole place today? The drinks tonight cost at least three million dollars. Do you think Scarlett looks like a woman who can fork out three million dollars on her own?"
Alexander did not believe it as well, but he responded, "Raymond just told me himself."
Stephen was stunned for a while. "What the hell indeed."
Scarlett also thought that it was absurd. She did not think that she would meet Raymond's friends when she barely came to a bar. What was more, they were not ordinary friends.
Alexis saw that she was distracted and handed her a cocktail. "What are you doing? Why do you still look so bitter? You’re not suddenly regretting divorcing Raymond, are you?"
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "I only regret being foolish!"
She was rich, but she would not splurge like this. Fortunately, she would only be divorced once in her life. Otherwise, if she had to do this again and again, even the richest person in the world would be heartbroken.
Alexis clicked her tongue and sat next to Scarlett. She nudged her with her elbow and asked, "What's wrong with you then? Are you reminiscing about the sweet and bitter times?"
Scarlett took a sip of the cocktail. Honestly, it was quite tasty, hence she could not help but take another sip before answering, "Look who those two people are at the card table at your eight o’clock."
Alexis did not get it at first. When she finally turned to look, she almost spilled the drink in her hand. "What kind of luck do you have, Scarlett!"
Scarlett shrugged. "I also want to know what kind of luck I have today.”
She was clearly here to celebrate having regained freedom after her divorce. Nonetheless, now that she was holding a cocktail and drinking on her own in this corner, she looked rather dejected for having loved in vain.
Raymond's two close childhood friends were not far away. Scarlett thought about it and felt that she could not let people laugh at her anymore.
With that, she downed the cocktail in her hand and stood up. "Would you like to dance?”
Alexis raised her eyebrow. "We haven't danced for a long time, right?”
Scarlett smiled. "Now that you say it, it’s true."
"Let's go. We're going to be the most beautiful ones here tonight!"
Alexis was full of heroic spirit. She pulled Scarlett and ran over to the DJ, then she snatched the mic and said, "Hi, good evening, everyone! Let me introduce you to Scarlett Reed-a rich lady and my bestie. She'll b e paying for all the drinks tonight! However, this isn't the main point. The point is that there’ll be a treat for your eyes today. In order to celebrate my bestie's new lease of life, we’ll give you an unforgettable performance tonight! Woohoo, let's get high!"
Scarlett felt quite embarrassed at first but since Alexis, the big celebrity, did not feel humiliated, she would act recklessly as well.
She did not know what Alexis told the DJ but in any case, the lights on the stage changed. Those people who were initially dancing highly on the stage also left consciously. The two of them were the only ones left on the dazzling stage.
Several poles were lowered from the ceiling. Scarlett was standing below those colorful lights, which somewhat made her excited as well.
Ever since she got married to Raymond, she had curbed her temperament and pretended to be gentle and soft, but she forgot that she was never that kind of woman.
In actuality, she did not need the sympathy and pity of others. She wanted to subdue, and she wanted to be a queen!
