"Good job. Take the money." Anna pushed an envelope in front of the man.
The man opened the envelope and looked at it. "Why is it less than the amount you told me?"
"Boyd is still alive. Judging from what happened now, it has no effect on Nancy. You know, this is not the result I was expecting, so I'm only giving you this money. Give me the result I wanted, and I'll give you the rest." Without looking at him, Anna sipped on her coffee.
"To make sure you're satisfied with the outcome, I will increase the dose tomorrow to make Boyd delusional. But what if he really dies?" The fear in his eyes was evident.
"That kind of medicine can only cause illusions and won't easily kill people. You can add more doses. And besides, even if he dies, it has nothing to do with us." She squinted before she took a drag on her newly lit cigarette.
The man laughed and said, "Just make sure to give me the rest as soon as I'm done with your request. If you don't give me the money, I will expose this matter."
"Do you think I'll ruin my name for just a few dollars? Just focus on your work. Don't worry. I'm leaving. We can't be seen together by other people." After she put out her cigarette, she took her bag and left the man alone.
Neither of them noticed Nancy, who secretly took a photo of them on her phone.
At this time, Anna, had returned to the pediatric
department.
Jessie noticed that there were many accidents happening to Boyd. It was quite obvious that all of it was staged. Of course, she knew that Anna was behind of all it.
That was exactly what she wanted to see. She observed everything in silence.
"Director Jessie, I just went out. Wouldn't you ask where I went?" Anna put on the white gown and sat down on the chair.
"I know. You are young. It's normal for you to go out on a date." But deep inside Jessie, she knew what was keeping her busy these days.
"Yes, I just went out to see my boyfriend." The two of them looked at each other tacitly with a smile plastered on their faces.
After all, they were on the same boat.
Their heads turned to Nancy who came in. "You two are both here?"
"Dr. Nancy?" Jessie asked in surprise.
The look on Anna's face slightly changed. "I remembered you just entered the operating room. Why did the operation ended so soon?"
Nancy shrugged. "It's just a minor operation. I let my assistant do it by himself."
"So, did you come here to chat with us?" asked Jessie, looking at Anna.
Jessie had been with Nancy for such a long time and she knew her attitude at work.
She didn't like to gossip around during working hours. Let alone, go to other people's office often.
It was strange for her to come here now.
Jessie felt a little uneasy.
"Yes, Director Nancy, why are you here today?" Anna said in a meaningful voice.
"I really have something to talk about with you two. It's about Boyd. He has been facing a lot of mental problems these days. I want to hear your opinions. I have been a doctor for so many years, but I have never been exposed to cases involving mental disorders. I am a little confused about the sudden change in his mental condition." Nancy looked at them devoutly. "I really want to know your thoughts regarding this matter."
Hearing this, Jessie became vigilant. "Well, it's hard to explain mental disorders. Why are you so serious about this, Director Nancy? If there are no other ways, just let him leave the hospital as soon as possible."
