In an apparent hurry, the man strode towards the nurse's medicine room and barged inside.
And as if synced with the perfect timing, the monitoring screen suddenly went black.
"Hurry! Go to the medicine room of the Second Pediatric Department!" Hobart yelled and frantically walked out. Behind him was the security guard of the hospital.
Unfortunately, when they arrived, the man in black was nowhere to be found. He seemed to have disappeared that soon.
"Where is the medicine? Take back all the medicine!" Hobart shouted in panic, turning his head from left to right in search of someone suspicious.
"President Hobart, the medicine has been distributed." Clueless as to why these men would surge in their department all of a sudden, Erin eyed Hobart with a glint of fear.
"Where is Boyd's medicine?" the latter asked as he walked towards Boyd's room.
But before he could even get there, a scream blared from the ward, "Ah, it hurts! Let go of me!
I will really kill you! You idiot keep on feeding me cheap food on me! Do you think I won't notice, huh?! I'm not stupid!"
Evident in Boyd's voice was the disdain and aversion his face expressed.
And while he sounded harassed, Hobart and the security guard rushed in, hoping to catch the man they had been tailing.
However, Boyd graced their sight, grabbing his wife's hair while his eyes were bloodshot. "Bitch, I said I wanted to eat something delicious! Did you hear me?" he yelled aggressively.
"This is what our family can afford. Let go of me! Why do you keep on making trouble?" the woman grieved as her tears rolled on her cheeks. "Stop! What are you doing?"
Hobart shouted angrily and immediately grabbed Boyd's arm. But the latter, perhaps amped with some drugs, slammed him on the ground with brute force.
Even the security guard was anxious and at a loss. He wanted to subdue Boyd, but the crazy patient picked up the infusion bottle and threw it at him. Everything happened so fast that the next thing they knew, the security guard convulsed and fell on the ground.
Meanwhile, after Nancy heard the news from Erin, she didn’t think twice and frenziedly rushed over to the ward.
"Boyd, it's me, Dr. Nancy. Please put down the bottle. We can talk about this," she softly said, reminding herself to stay calm. "This bitch always gives me noodles. I've been eating them for two months, and I'm fed up with it!"
Boyd ranted and threw a crisp slap on his wife's face.
Because of the powerful impact, the woman fell on the floor. "We don't have any money to buy other food!"
she cried loudly, ignoring the seething pain and redness of her cheeks. "Boyd, don't worry. I’ll buy food for you. What do you want to eat?"
As Nancy walked closer to him, she could hear her heart beating so fast, although she tried her best to calm down.
But her ploy seemed to have worked as Boyd blinked his eyes and gazed up at the ceiling. Then after thinking for a while, he uttered, "I want to eat pancakes, wontons, dumplings..."
Because he thrived in an ordinary household, Boyd thought that those foods were already special, which was not staple to them.
In fact, he had never seen or heard of any other food that the wealthy would fancy to eat. "Okay, look, I have money here. Don't worry. We'll buy you those foods, okay?" Nancy muttered as if she was talking to a baby.
Then, she quickly took out a thousand dollars and commanded, "Erin, go buy dumplings and wonton for Boyd." "Alright."
Erin, who followed Nancy to the ward, took the money and left in a hurry.
Nancy then assisted Boyd's wife, who looked frail on the floor, to stand on her feet.
"Doctor Nancy, he used to be a very economical man. He ate whatever I prepared and had a gentle temper. I don't know what's wrong with him these days. He doesn't seem to be himself anymore. I'm so sorry," the woman helplessly uttered, sobbing. "It's okay, don't worry."
As Nancy spoke with a soft tone, she gently patted the woman on the shoulder to comfort her.
At the same time, Hobart pulled her aside and said in a low voice, "I just checked the surveillance video, and someone entered the pharmacy. But because the camera wasn’t clear, we couldn't see his face. I suspect that the current mental disorder of Boyd was because of the medicine!" "Oh?"
Even though Nancy had already suspected it too, she didn’t expect the culprit to be that bold and commit it twice. "What? What are you talking about?" the wife asked in surprise. "Well, we are not that sure yet. But since he had been in the hospital for a long time and is a little depressed, maybe you should take him out to get some fresh air,"
said Nancy, who was obviously trying to stir the conversation off-topic. "Oh, alright."
Surprisingly enough, the woman just nodded without any suspicions.
At this time, Erin came back with all the foods, and upon seeing her, Boyd excitingly grabbed them and began to munching like a deprived man.
So, after making sure that the patient had calmed down, Nancy and Hobart walked out of the ward. "We'd better leave it to Mr. Fu," Hobart suggested.
With his resources, Hobart could do nothing but inspect the hospital, and since the surveillance footage wasn't much of a help, he could only find limited clues. "President Hobart, just let me handle it myself.¹'
