Charles thought Nancy was being reasonable, but he didn't think that he wasn't.
If neither of them backed down soon, this was never going to end
One of them eventually had to give in, right?
Obviously, there was no way Nancy was going to give in. With a sigh, he decided to just concede. After all, he had been used to it.
"Nancy, what do you suggest then? I'll think about it!"
Nancy felt much better now that Charles seemed to compromise.
She said, "Now that Jessie returned the money to her patient, let her go back to work! She tried to commit suicide. We can't just stand by and watch her die, right?"
"Okay, you've got it," he said, smiling helplessly.
He didn't really want Jessie to go back to the hospital.
He didn't want her to lose her life over this either though
"Thank you, Charles. You haven't lost your soft side. You still know mercy!" A smile finally appeared on her stiff face.
"Mercy? Nancy..." Charles gently lifted Nancy's little chin and looked deep into her eyes. ''For you, I'd give up the whole world. This small allowance is really not a problem!" "Sentimental!" said Nancy cheekily.
"I'll do anything to make you happy!" Charles lowered his head and kissed her.
When she arrived at the hospital the next day, she heard the nurses whispering amongst themselves.
"I heard that Dr. Jessie will be back at work soon."
"Yeah. If she irons out her mistakes I have no problem forgiving her!"
"Isn't it because she tried to kill herself?"
A nurse saw Nancy and quickly made a gesture to cover her mouth. "Stop it. Director Nancy is here."
Nancy stopped and said, "The professional requirements for nurses is very strict. You are in charge of patients' lives. I hope all of you can take it seriously!"
"Yes, Director Nancy!" Several nurses rushed into the ward.
Turning her head, Nancy saw Anna coming over.
Her eyes gleamed with anger.
Nancy grinned. She knew that Anna would be the most upset with Jessie's return.
"Director Nancy, you really hate me!" Anna said aggressively.
"Dr. Anna, what are you talking about?" Nancy didn't think too highly of Anna and nothing was about to change that now!
"I've been working so hard these days. Don't you see that?" Anna sighed.
"Oh? Are you saying that others aren't working hard?" Nancy frowned and asked.
"Are you intentionally twisting my words?" Anna knew that she already wasn't in Nancy's good books. What was the point of trying to pretend to be nice now?
"I'm still very busy. If you're free, you can go see Director Jessie!" Nancy wasn't about to waste her time on such a trivial conversation. She dismissed Anna and was ready to leave.
