Nancy knew Jessie very well.
Nancy had known Jessie for so long, except for the odd bit of banter here and there, she was never cruel towards her. This woman was quite the trouble maker, but more timid than would be expected.
Nancy guessed that the only reason Jessie would be here in such clear rage was because of Anna.
Tm always so busy at work. I really don't understand how these people have the energy to start up all this nonsense,' Nancy thought.
"Director Jessie, I have endless amounts of respect for you. You're not sure about anything so you can't jump to conclusions. Besides, you can't believe what Anna says, can you?" Nancy said calmly.
On the one hand, Nancy wasn't in the mood to fight. On the other, Jessie was a patient now. No matter what the reason was, it was always going to be Nancy's fault for this quarrel.
"Nancy, I can't stand that smug look on your face. It disgusts me!" Jessie suddenly rushed over, grabbed the cup on Nancy's desk and flung it at her!
Luckily Nancy's reactions seemed to be working and she dodged the cup.
"Jessie, why are you acting like such an animal?" shouted Nancy.
Nancy had already had a fight with Anna jut now, so she couldn't possibly fight with Jessie here. It was a bad image for the hospital.
Nancy felt a little dejected. She couldn't stoop to Jessie's level!
"Nancy, you're the one who caused all this. You are a devil of a woman! You'll pay for what you've done to me! You deserve it!" Jessie shouted in a fit of rage.
Before Nancy could figure out how to fight back, Jessie's body shuddered and fell to the ground.
What was going on? Nancy froze.
"Help! Help!" Nancy shouted while trying to see what was wrong with Jessie.
Jessie remained motionless. Was she dead?
In a rush, a doctor and a nurse sprinted in.
"Director Nancy, what's wrong?"
"Director Jessie seemed okay. What happened to her?"
A nurse saw the broken glass shattered on the floor and shouted, "The glass is broken! Was it Director Nancy? It couldn't be..."
Then she covered her mouth in horror.
"I didn't hit her. Send Jessie to the emergency room as soon as possible. She needs urgent care." Nancy was so flustered. She didn't understand what was happening.
The doctor and nurse rushed Jessie to the emergency room.
Nancy sat down on the chair and suddenly became too restless to stay there.
She was just too uneasy to do anything. The anxiety was slowly consuming her.
This was the last thing she needed right now!
She just wanted to do her job; why was that so difficult?
After a while, Erin came into the office.
Nancy looked up at her and asked, "How is Jessie?"
"She is fine." Erin said softly, "I know it wasn't your fault. Everyone is just being dramatic..."
Hearing Erin's weepy voice, Nancy noticed the red marks on her arms.
"What's wrong? Are you crying?" asked Nancy.
The nurse shook her head, but her tears fell like rain drops.
"What happened? Don't cry." Nancy's mind was all jumbled up. She just didn't know what to say anymore.
"I... They said you caused Jessie's problem, so I argued with them and then fought with them. I..." The more she spoke, the louder she cried.
Nancy didn’t even feel upset. Since she entered the hospital, the rumors about her flowed like a river.
She smiled warmly, "Well, it is not worth crying over such a trivial matter. Wipe your tears. Get to work. Your patients are waiting for you!"
