With an evil smile, vague anger flashed across Jay's deep eyes.
Doris lowered her head immediately. She didn't dare say anything to this man. After all, she was pregnant and she just wanted to see what Jay was going to do. Besides, she didn't really love him so it was best to keep her distance. Doris didn't want to provoke him.
Time seemed to almost grind to a halt. What could have only been about twenty minutes felt like an eternity.
Every minute in the car was pure torture for her. Finally, as soon as they got to the parking lot, she immediately got out of the car and stretched her stiff neck. Then she saw the golden words 'Royal Hotel', which seemed familiar.
Judging from the name, the food here was bound to be expensive.
Doris's heart trembled and she regretted agreeing to this meal.
She didn't have money. Why was she pretending like she did?
Just to spend Jay's money? Even though they established their relationship and they were now a couple, nobody could be certain of the future.
If she spent too much, Jay could use it against her. Maybe in the future it would be some sort of bargaining chip for him.
Doris turned around and wanted to get into the car. Before she could get in, Jay waved the key in his hand and said to her with a snicker, "The car is locked."
"But..." Her throat was dry. It seemed that the lack of money made her lack confidence.
"Doris, we used to eat here all the time. You used to love this place. What's the matter?" With one hand in his pocket, Jay waltzed ahead.
Was she once that loose with her money?
She definitely wasn't like that, was she?
How much had she forgotten?
Why couldn't she remember anything?
Doris followed him, scared of what she could find out next. She wasn't even sure who was paying for the meal.
Jay knew she had no money though. Why did he have to embarrass her?
All of a sudden, Jay stopped and turned around to look at her.
Perhaps she was imagining it but she felt that his eyes seemed bright and warm.
"Oh, coming." With her head down, Doris sped up and followed Jay.
Fortunately, Jay found a table in the main hall and they didn't have to sit in the box. After all, the box was inconceivably expensive.
Jay sat down, and Doris sat opposite him.
Soon a waiter came over with the menu. "What would you two like this evening?"
"Two Australian lobsters," said Jay.
"How big?"
"One or two pounds is okay," Jay said casually, flicking through the menu.
Doris' eyes almost popped out of her head in shock. "Waiter, do you even have such large lobsters here? I suppose no."
Then she winked at the waiter.
Jay also looked at the waiter.
The waiter was completely befuddled and started getting a little nervous.
They were obviously a couple. Who should he listen to?
"Yes. Or. No?"
Doris winked at the waiter and said, "No, right?"
"What?" Jay said in a deep bellow.
The waiter's heart trembled again. His status alone could get him the answer he wanted. Jay was a big shot in this city, so the waiter immediately answered, "Yes, we have Australian lobsters weighing over four pounds here!"
Four pounds?
That was excessive. Was Jay going to order that much?
Doris was speechless. She had to come to terms with this miserable reality. "No, four pounds is too much. We can't eat that much. It's a waste. Just a small one is fine!"
Although Doris had never eaten this lobster before, she knew that it was going to be expensive.
