The Alpha’s Little Rogue (Alessia) novel Chapter 160

Chapter 160

Raphael's POV My eyes fall open as the sound of whimpering registers in my head. I look down at Daphne who's pressed against my chest with a deep frown on her face that causes her brows to draw together.

Every few minutes, she lets out a haunted sound that digs into my chest.

"Daphne," I call out and grip her shoulder to get her out of her nightmare. A few seconds later, she jolts from her sleep and her eyes search the room frantically as though she's trying to figure out where exactly she is.

I wrap my hand around her waist and pull her back into my embrace. "I'm right here. You're safe with me." Like a broken record, I keep repeating those words to Daphne until her breathing goes back to normal.

We're locked in this embrace for a few minutes until Daphne pulls away and sits up on the bed. She looks dazed and out of sorts but at least she has stopped her earlier whimpering.

Sitting up as well, I slide over to her, slip behind her, and cage her in with my arms wrapped around her middle. "Do you want to talk about it?" I ask, lowering my head and dropping a soft kiss on her shoulder.

She leans into me and I hold her tighter.

"There's nothing to talk about." A pause. "I never remember what the nightmares are about?"

I catch the pluralized word there. "How often does it happen to you?"

She gives me a tiny smile but doesn't answer my question, causing my anxiety to spike through the roof. Her silence isn't reassuring in the least.

"I'm sorry I woke you up. You can go back to bed. I'm just going to stay awake for a while." She gets out of bed and looks down at me with an apologetic smile. "I'm going to go heat some milk and hope that it does the trick," she informs and picks up my shirt from the ground which she then uses to cover her naked body. She gives me one last glance at the bed and walks out of the room.

Like hell I'm going to go back to sleep when my mate can't fall asleep because of nightmares. If she can't come to bed with me then we're both going to stay awake together.

"I'm coming with you," I say to an empty room and shake my head at myself. Sliding out of the bed, I pick up my sweatpants and slide them up my legs.

Then I walk out of the room and head for the kitchen where I can hear the sound of pots against each other.

Daphne has a pot on the stove and is now pouring milk from a cartoon into it. Then she adds some cinnamon and honey. It's a simple and plain process but I can't help being fixated on how beautiful she looks right now. My shirt on her also has a part in it.

The sound of me moving towards her has her turning around with surprise etched on her face when she sees me. "You didn't go back to bed?" She asks, sounding confused.
