Chapter 167
“Your personal maid,” Daisy said, and the expectation in Alpha Calhoun’s eyes vanished until she added, “And by personal, I mean, I only attend to your needs.”
A small smile thinned Alpha Calhoun’s lips. Daisy was so bold, and he could make good use of her in that angle. “You mean like in bed?”
The color drained from Daisy’s face. What a pervert? She forced herself to smile again. “Those needs are only reserved for mates. I mean, cleaning and secretarial duties.”
Even if he was indeed her mate like she thought, she would never allow him to touch her until he fell in love with her, knowing that he would not feel the bond.
Disappointment flashed in Calhoun’s eyes, but then, since his beta had still not arrived, he accepted her terms partially. “Cleaning part, yes, but the secretarial part, I will think about it.”
He never allowed anyone close to the office because of confidential documents here and there, so accepting a stranger, no matter how skilled, needed to be thought through.
Daisy did not have a choice. Aside from those close to the Alpha, only a maid would have access to his room, and that was her greatest reason for saying this.
The moment she confirms that Alpha Calhoun is not the man she was looking for, she would be gone without a trace.
Only his looks passed him for that mysterious man, but his voice and mannerisms were completely different.
Her first mission was to win his trust, then she could search his room for the crescent moon pendant.
“So do we have a deal?”
“Deal,” Alpha Calhoun agreed. “It’s about fifteen minutes to the packhouse from here if we run. You mentioned being good in combat, so it should not be a problem, right?”
He was testing her, though he had in mind to investigate her. Daisy beamed. “Not at all.”
Then follow my lead.”
Alpha Calhoun introduced her to the warriors watching the gate before he began running in a direction Daisy perceived to be the packhouse. Daisy matched his speed and could have overtaken him, except she did not know where the packhouse was and had to keep his pace.
She received strange stares for the fact that she was running close to the Alpha during his workout with only his warriors. The warriors had returned, but the Alpha was returning later with a young beautiful nerdy girl.
Was she his Luna, or just another of his play toys?
“I will get someone to take you around the pack,” Alpha Calhoun caught his breath when they reached the packhouse. “You have great energy,” he observed and pointed out, curious about knowing whom exactly she was.
“Are you complimenting me?” Daisy asked flirtatiously, a middle–aged woman walked to the Alpha before he could answer.
“Alpha, your bath is ready,” she said, completely ignoring Daisy.
“Thank you, Linda, but from henceforth, you should teach Aurora here how to prepare my bath. She is my personal maid.”
Linda was not pleased to have a woman like Daisy around. She was different from Alpha Cal’s call girls and might worm her way into his heart. Then what would happen to her best friend’s daughter whom Alpha Calhoun was engaged to?
She had promised to keep a close eye on Alpha Cal since the search for his mate seemed impossible. If he got married to Linda’s best friend’s daughter, Linda would receive a great reward for it.
“Aurora, Linda is the housekeeper, but she only comes here three times a week to ensure everything is in place. She has a sick son who needs her most of the time.”
Aurora was saddened that Linda’s son was sick. “I’m sorry to hear that, Linda. I don’t mean to pry, but how old is your son?”
“I gave birth late, so he’s just twelve,” Linda politely responded, curious about Aurora, for caring about her son.
Was she faking it, or was she for real? Either way, she had to focus on her mission.

Chapter 167
“That means he doesn’t have his wolf yet. I would pay him a visit later if you don’t mind,” Aurora proposed, but somehow, Alpha Calhoun did not like her visiting a pack member of the opposite sex.
“You are my personal maid, not to go around pack members‘ houses.”
It was strange that Aurora sensed jealousy in his tone, but before she could break it down, there was a distraction.

*Alpha, you are back,” Aurora heard a female voice from upstairs and lifted her head to see the girl descending the stairs, and what she was wearing brought so many unanswered questions to her mind.
Was this really the man she was looking for? Having grown up with a man dedicated to her mother, Aurora found Alpha Calhoun strange and unworthy of her, but that was the way of life for most Alphas.
It was just that her uncles and father were committed to their mates and the bond.
“C, why are you still here?” Calhoun looked slightly embarrassed, and this so–called C girl did not like the sight of Aurora. She was the most stunning nerd she ever saw.
