The Apple of My Eye novel Chapter 2028

"Well, it's fine. They're safe." Sheryl's eyes were very red, and her children were quite shaken up too.

Sheryl comforted her kids and then asked Joan to take care of her children.

After making sure that everything was all right, Sheryl went to the company with Isla.

"Children, I need to go to work. Please stay here at home." It seemed that nothing had happened. Sheryl smiled as her children looked at her.

"All right. Mom, please come home early."

Shirley's words made Sheryl feel warm inside.

Sheryl nodded. She looked at Clark and said, "Take care of your sister. Don't do anything like that again. Don't make us worry about you. If you want to do something, please tell Mom first."

"All right, Mom. Don't worry. I won't." Clark made a promise to Sheryl.

With this, Sheryl was able to calm down. She then headed to work.

After they got into the car, Isla couldn't help but ask, "What's the matter?"

Sheryl sighed. "They wanted to see Charles, so they made this plan."

As soon as Sheryl thought about it again, she started to get distressed. If Shirley hadn't told her the truth, she would've been in the dark.

"What?" Isla couldn't believe that Clark and Shirley would do something like that.

However, she soon realized that they were acting just like their father. After all, these were Charles' children. Back when he was still pursuing Sheryl, he'd do all sorts of crazy things.

Sheryl was reminded of Charles, too, with this. She also felt bad for her kids.

After Charles had left, he hadn't seen the children since then. Even if she went to see Charles asking him to visit the children, he may not agree.

Sheryl had no choice. Charles was a grown man. If he wanted to see his children, no one was stopping him, but if he didn't want to, then there was no forcing him.

"I don't want to talk about it anymore. Let me rest." After which, she closed her eyes and tried to get some rest.

Isla grew silent as she understood Sheryl.

In Sheryl's place

After Sheryl left, Joan urged the kids to go to bed; however, they couldn't seem to fall asleep.

"Aunt Joan, we can just play with each other. Don't worry. You can go back to whatever it is you're doing," Clark said politely to Joan.

So Joan nodded and said, "All right. I'll be downstairs. If you need anything, call me."

"Of course."

After Joan left, Shirley took Clark's hand and said, "Clark, we can't see Dad, and we just disappointed Mom."

Shirley raised her head and looked at Clark with a worried expression on her face.

Clark looked at Shirley and held her hand. "No, Mom's not mad at us. Let's just not do it again."

Clark already knew that Charles had left Sheryl; however, for some reason, he just always chose to believe that his parents were still getting back together. He didn't give much thought to their plan, which had resulted in this. He vowed he'd never do it again.

He was a good boy. He must take good care of his sister and not disappoint his mom.

"All right. We should rest now." Clark took Shirley's hand as they both headed to bed.

Sheryl went back to the Cloud Advertising Company. When Isla was sure that Sheryl was fine, she left because she knew Sheryl had a lot to do.
