  Yup that's right, she had reacted to him in the way she had never done to any man, not that she had lots of experience with 'em though. But it would do her a real lot of good if they kept things professional between them, after all this was a business contract to them. Keeping things formal and not trying to enjoy it like a real marriage would leave her unscathed at the end of everything. 

He frowned " Carla? What's wrong? You have been zoning out in the last few hours, why? " She shook her head in answer and he sighed, not taking well to her lack of communication. 

" Do you regret what we did? " He asked in a very low and cautious tone. 

Again, she shook her head " Not at all, I signed up for this, remember? "

He breathed a sigh of relief but it was short lived as the meaning of her words sank in properly. 

He frowned slightly " So are you saying you would have regretted it if we were not bound by a contract? We made love because of the contract and not because of US? " He placed emphasis on the last word. 

She shrugged " That's why we're here, isn't it? Not to have feelings for each other but to make a baby and go our separate ways "

He looked at her like he couldn't believe she was actually saying all that to him. She saw a pained expression flashed through his eyes but it went quickly. 

" Really? " He asked, sitting back on his chair as he assessed her. 

She felt naked under his probing stare but nodded nonetheless " Yes, I just hope I'm pregnant this time so we won't have to go through this again "

He laughed scornfully " You call our lovemaking ' THIS ' "

She put her hands up to stop him from overthinking things " Liam, that's not what I... "

But he cut her off " Oh I understand you perfectly fine, Carla. You wish to keep things formal between us even though that's not what you really feel "

She frowned " Whatever could you mean by that? "

" Don't ask me, Carla. I'm leaving for work, enjoy your time alone, wife " He said and stood up but Carla stopped him before he could make it to the door. 

" Wait! You wanna leave me here all by myself? You know I don't know my way around and besides, what will people say when you show up the day after your wedding? I bet you would like some headline like ' Trouble in paradise so soon? ' You'd like that, wouldn't you? " She finally exhaled an exhausted breath after saying all that. 

His eyes hardened " Let go of me Carla, I don't care, do you? " And he gave her a mocking smile. 

She stepped back immediately, it was as if he had given her a physical punch by his rejection. His response was like a verbal blow to her and her eyes welled up with tears in no time. 

" Okay, go do whatever you want, you were not always considerate of people's feelings so I shouldn't be surprised " With that said, she turned and went back into the bathroom, leaving Liam ogling her plump ass.
