" Whatever " Jenny snorted and stared blankly into space.
" Go on please " Carla whined
Jenny gave her a triumph smirk and continued " I felt his face looked familiar but I couldn't remember where I had seen him before. So at your wedding,... "
Carla's eyes widened " He was at our wedding?! Who exactly is he?! "
" I got to know later that he was Alexander Hamilton " Jenny sighed.
Carla's eyes went so huge that they almost popped out of their sockets " Alex is the guy you like?! "
" I didn't say I like him, dummy " Jenny corrected.
" But you said you couldn't stop thinking about him! " Carla spread out her arms for emphasis.
" I didn't mean it the way it sounded! " Jenny groaned out in frustration.
" Yeah sure " Carla teased and laughed.
" So the man in question is Alexander? Liam's best friend? Wow this is getting interesting " She mused out loud, with a smile playing at the tips of her lips.
Jenny rolled her eyes " You look happy, it's weird, you know? "
Carla laughed " I do? Maybe it's because there the possibility that you might end up with him "
Jenny's eyes widened in horror " I don't even know him, Jenny! And I don't recollect telling you I wanted a guy in my life, I'm perfectly okay "
" Are you really? " Carla asked rhetorically but Jenny answered her anyway.
" Yeah I'm okay with my life as it is " Jenny smiled.
Carla leaned forward " So tell me more, did you two get to talk at the wedding? "
" Yup " Jenny replied, popping the 'p'. She avoided Carla's eyes totally and let her gaze rest on something else.
Carla stared at Jenny for a minute and sensed something suspicious. She tilted her chin up so they could maintain eye contact.
" Something happened between you two, right? Your rosy cheeks is telling me something, I just can't figure out what it is so you must tell me " Carla said firmly, leaving no protest on the side of Jenny.
Jenny sighed, giving in to her friend's curiosity " As a matter of fact, yes, something did happen between us "
Carla gave her a reassuring smile " It's fine, cupcake, just be careful. Alex is rumored to be a playboy "
Jenny pinned Carla with her sharp gaze " By telling me, if you're implying that I would fall for his charms, then you're wrong. I don't wanna go down the love lane for now so you don't have to worry about a thing because I'll be fine "
" You can never tell what the future has in store for you, Jenny. Just be careful, Alex is as charming as fuck " Carla said with a laugh.
Jenny joined her in the laughter " I'll be fine baby, besides he hasn't shown any interest in me yet, so there's nothing to be worried about "
Carla hummed in reply " With guys, you never know with 'em, you're beautiful so there's no way Alex could have overlooked that "
" Okay I'm off " She added, getting up on her feet.
Jenny tried to stand too but was having difficulty on her part " Ugh, I don't think I'll be able to see you off this way. You know...I... "
Carla bursted into another fit of laughter " Hold your breath lady, I can manage perfectly fine on my own, besides I have Ben here with me " She said lightly, extending a hand in his direction while he looked away quickly, his face flushed.
" Okay... Okay, take care huh? I... Love... Y... you " Jenny struggled with the words as the alcoholic drink had started to take effect on her already.
" I love you more pumpkin " Carla replied softly and hugged her, but not without giving her a wet peck on her cheeks.
" Ew, that's gross and yucky! " Jenny shouted but luckily for them, most of the customers had left.
Carla rolled her eyes " And I think you are " She laughed and started walking out of the restaurant, giving Jenny a small wave with Ben trailing behind her.
He preceded her to the car and got the door open. Carla slid in with a weary sigh and closed her eyes. Her back was pressed against the soft leather and she loved every feeling of comfort it provided. This luxurious life wouldn't go on forever, she knew that, so she should make the most of it while she can.
" Boss called me a while ago " Ben, in his deep baritone voice, broke into her thoughts. He glanced at her from the rearview mirror when she didn't respond immediately.
" Oh, did he? " She replied, not caring one bit that he might actually be worried about her or angry that she went out without his prior notice.
