I was still looking for the best way to explain what had happened to Zion when Eros answered with a straight face.
“It's an adult thing, Son.” He said.
I slapped Eros hand in embarrassment. Just like I suspected, the answer was too vague for the children to accept.
Lily watched me with a curious suspicion, while Zion seemed to understand that it was a question he wouldn't get an answer to, no matter how hard he pressed.
It was amazing how Eros and Zion were alike in so many ways.
While Eros was a strict and firm leader who would not accept any nonsense from his subordinates, he was also a nice and caring father to his family.
The same way Zion could sometimes be firm with his mates and if things weren’t done properly, and then sweet when it mattered.
For a two year old, he was way too mature.
Lily on the other hand, was the voice of skepticism. Her silence was loud enough to voice her doubts. All she had to do was look long enough to access the situation and she was almost never wrong with her intuitions.
Deep down, I wondered if she had gotten that from me and not her birth mother. We were way too alike on that note. It was hard to imagine that Lily didn't pass through me. Not when we were like two peas in a pond.
Suddenly, Lily sighed and rubbed her belly with a slight frown. “I'm hungry.” She said,
Guilt plagued me as I immediately scrambled out of bed. If only Eros and I hadn't been too…occupied, I would have made breakfast for the kids earlier.
However, the maids should have taken over if I wasn't there.
“Did Helen not give you food?” I asked Lily.
Helen was the head maid. She was almost like family considering she was the one making all the meals when I wasn't.
Lily shook her head. “Helen did, but we wanted to eat with mom and dad.” She made a slight pout, and Zion nodded in agreement.
My heart fluttered at her statement. The love in her eyes was evident, and I knew without a doubt that Lily considered us as the only parent she had.
Eros smiled and bent down to pick the kids in his hands. The children giggled as they tightly held on to their father, occasionally slapping him on the arm so he could make terrifying faces at them that made them squeal in delight.
“Mom!” Zion called making gestures with his fingers for me to follow.
I shook my head. “No. I have to use the restroom. I'll join you very soon.” I said.
Zion nodded.
Eros looked back at me, a dirty smirk on his face that suggested that he knew the reason why I had to clean up.
I rolled my eyes at his proud smile and allowed them to go out of sight before I moved.
I went into the bathroom, and the first thing I did was to take a look at myself in the mirror.
I looked disheveled, the hair on my head stuck out in various angles, while my eyes had a hooded look to it that suggested I was very much in a… good mood.
I pulled off my blouse and scrutinized my body. There were red marks all over from how rough Eros had handled me, but there was nothing unpleasant about it.
The bite mark at my neck still stung slightly and I smiled as I bit my lips in memory of that moment.
