The Biker’s Mafia Princess (Angel and Savage) novel Chapter 43

Savage POV.

It has been two month’s since the incident. We all take it in turns to stay with her, even though we know she isn’t going to wake up soon.

Every night I go home to her house to be with Rebel because she doesn’t understand why her mommy is still sleeping. So we have told her she was really tired and will wake up soon. I only hope that would be the case, but I know it won’t be. It breaks my heart to hold her as she cries herself to sleep.

Our families also stand watch when I’m not there. I have never been a man to pray, but I have been every chance I get. Begging for her to come back to me, to us. The doctors can’t give us a time frame because, according to them, it is up to Angel.

Even though it has been a few days and I can see and touch her, I know she is not really there. Her physical body is but nothing else. It is so hard to see her like this and know that I can’t do anything to make it better.

So I sit here and watch and wait, keeping my Angel safe. Waiting for news on the next course of action. She has had lots of tests, scans and even another surgery. I cry every day, not knowing what to do. I miss her and all I want is to see her eyes again and to hear her voice.

The nurse and doctors have told me she can hear what is going on around her and that they are planning on bringing her out soon. They are happy she is healing, but they are still concerned about her brain function.

So I talk to her every day. I tell her about Rebel. I even read to her. Angel was never interested in the gossip rags, so I read her books. At first it was difficult to talk to her without getting choked up knowing she won’t respond, but with time it has become easier.

“Ryder. How are you holding up?” One of the nurses asks as she does her checks on Angel. She is the nurse that is assigned to Angel during the day. She is an older lady, she is motherly and kind. Her name is Barb.

“Same old. She is fighting it. I know she is.” I say as I look at my Angel. Barb comes over to me and pats my shoulder.

“She is strong, not many would survive what she went through. They are going to try and bring her around today. Her tests are looking good and her scans are showing she is healing internally. Her brain scans look good, too. She will pull this,” she tells me and I nod my head before leaning back in the chair, closing my eyes for a brief second.

“She is a fighter. She did what she did to save our daughter and our families.” I tell her, and she smiles softly at me.

“Angel by name.” She says, and I chuckle and nod my head.

“Yes, she is. What will happen when they take her off the induction drugs?” I ask her as she checks the machines and writes down her findings.

“Hard to say. Some patients come round within hours, some take longer. If she has a reaction, then she may have to go back under to sedate her. But we won’t know until we try. She will still be in here, though, because of her injuries. She will also have to go through physio. Once her leg, arms, and pelvis have healed. But I know it’s her brain and memory you are more concerned with.” She says and I nod my head, blinking to stop the tears. Does that make me a selfish person?

She may have lost her memories of me and Rebel. If she has, I won’t know what to do to help her regain them.

“What if?”

“We won’t know until she wakes up. If she does have memory loss and I’m saying, if. Then you will have to be patient with her. Forcing them to return too soon could cause her to lash out and cause more damage. But we need to wait and see what happens when she wakes up. I’m sorry, Ryder, that is all I know right now. The doctors will be in shortly to start the process.” She says as I take a breath and turn my attention back to Angel.

I stand up from the chair and kiss her forehead. “Come back to me, baby, come back to us. We all love you and miss you so much.” I say, knowing she can hear me. It will be up to her if she wants to wake up or not. What if she doesn’t want to? Then what do I do?
