Angel POV.
I watch as my father and momma make their way through everyone. The members part like the red sea for my parents and I look at them. They don’t look happy. They look pissed. What is going on? Shouldn’t they be happy? I mean, dad was the one telling me to follow my gut. So why is he pissed?
“Angel, Rebel. Go wait outside.” My dad says and I look at him and straighten my shoulders and I don’t move.
“No, whatever you need to say, you say it with me present.” I say and people gasp. I have never spoken back with disrespect, especially to my parents. My heart is steady as I watch him as he walks towards me. Like a predator stalking its prey. As my dad gets closer to me, he kisses Rebel on her cheek and she giggles, but I keep my eyes on him.
“Nate. Take Rebel to play,” He says, watching me and I nod my head to my twin as he takes Rebel from her father. He gives me a confused look. I shrug my shoulders because I don’t know what is happening.
“Go play outside with uncy Nate, baby. Be a good girl.” I say as I kiss her and he leaves with her.
When the door to the clubhouse closes. My family’s men draw their guns, and I step in front of Ryder. Oh, hell no!
“What’s the meaning of this, dad?” I say as the members all draw their own guns and point them at my family. Great, a damn mafia MC fucking showdown!
“Well, daughter, I shall tell you. As you know, the MC does our gun and product runs for us. Yes?” he says as he circles the room like a hungry lion and I look at Ryder. And he is just as confused as me.
“Yes, I know that. So ...”
“The latest shipment has been stolen.” He turns his head and his honey coloured eyes flash to me. What the fuck?
“You think it has something to do with my club?” Ryder asks. His jaws ticks with annoyance at being accused.
“I know it does. You see, two hours ago, I received word that a few members of this MC gunned down my men and took the shipment. So tell me who was assigned on that run?” My dad turns and my eyes move to Ryder when Hatchet steps forward and stands beside his son.
“Antonio, maybe we should discuss this in the office? I had no idea that ...” my dad pulls his gun and aims it at Hatchet.
“That you would get fucking caught! Why Hatchet? We have always been generous with your commission. So why did you go against me and mine?” My dad is seething with anger. I gasp as I look at Hatchet. I let go of Ryder’s hand and turn to face Hatchet. No h wouldn’t do this. Hatchet is a good man, he wouldn’t steal from my family.
“I didn’t. I put my men on the task as always. They haven’t come back yet. They are due back soon. We will get to the bottom of this, Antonio. I would never betray you or your family. We are bound by blood.”
“That means nothing. Blood betrays blood all the damn time. You, of all people, know this. So we will wait. If they aren’t here by nightfall, then you know the penalty.” I gulp, looking at my dad and my momma. She is looking sad and I know she doesn’t want this to happen.
“How much is missing?” I ask and my dad looks at me before diverting his gaze back to Hatchet.
“Stay out of this, Angel. This is family business.” I reel back like he has just struck me.
“Excuse me! Am I not part of this family? So this is my business. How much is missing?” I say with one hand on my hip, speaking through gritted teeth. My free hand moves to the back of Ryder’s jeans, feeling the butt of his Glock.
“Angel, enough! This is ...” I pull the gun and point it at my father. My momma gasps and signals the men to lower their weapons.
“Lower your weapons, right fucking now. Antonio, lower your gun. Angel please, sweetheart, lower yours as well.” She doesn’t want this to go down and neither do I, but I will be damned if I allow this shit show to continue further.
I step forward, glaring at my father.
