Angel POV.
Well, what should have been a time for me and Rebel to settle in to our new home turned into a damn cookout.
The food was cooking on the grill in the back garden; the lawn was filled with my family, Savage, and his mom and dad and some of his guys. It was too much for Rebel being around so many new people and she was getting ratty from travelling and the excitement.
I was in the kitchen placing dishes in the dishwasher when I felt his presence.
“Need a hand?” he asks, but I ignore him. He had the intention of coming here because I won’t allow Rebel to be around the clubhouse. Couldn’t he have waited until we were settled before coming here like a damn wrecking ball and ruining the peace? Obviously not.
“Look, I know this is all extremely overwhelming and …” He starts. I snap, slamming the door of the dishwasher and spin to snarl at him.
“And WHAT! You turn up unannounced with your fucking crew, not even letting us settle before you start your dominant shit.” I walk closer to him and poke my finger in his chest.
“Let me make myself clear, Savage. This is mine and Rebel’s home, not your damn clubhouse. Don’t you think that Rebel and I needed to settle first before you walked in and turned what was to be a quiet night into a damn frat party?” I scream at him moments away from exploding.
“Now look here Angel. My parents have a right to meet her and …”
“Your parents, not your fucking men!” I scream again as my chest heaves and he looks at me pissed, good now he knows how I felt when they all turned up.
“Someone needs a nap.” He says mockingly, and that’s it. I snap and slap him hard.
“Get. Out!” I say, ignoring the stinging in my hand.
“Angel I was …”
“GET OUT! ALL OF YOU OUT!” I scream as I shove past him when I hear Rebel scream and cry. I run past him to the garden and see her fighting her tiredness.
“Oh baby, come here, sweetheart. You are overwhelmed and tired.” I coo and take her from Hatchet. He kisses her on her head as she rubs her eyes as she sobs and hiccups. The tantrum building because one she is overwhelmed and two she is exhausted.
“We should go.” Deanna, Hatchet’s ole lady and Savage’s mom says. Just as Rebel goes fucking nuclear. She kicks and screams, having the meltdown of all meltdowns.
Savage runs to us and tries to calm her down, but I scowl up at him as she starts to hit me, pulling at my hair. I take her hands in mine.
“Shhh, it’s ok, I know you’re tired baby. Shhhh.” I rock her as she struggles.
“Why is she like this?” is he for fucking real? That’s fucking it. My emotions meld with Rebels and I lose it.
“Because she is overwhelmed and tired, ratty. You couldn’t give us a few fucking days to settle in before you started your shit by trying to take over. Well-fucking-done Savage. Now get the fuck out of my house before I do something I won’t regret!” I shout at him and Rebel jolts and goes quiet. So does everyone in the garden. I have never raised my voice around her before.
He looks at me with his mouth open, then I see the rage take over, his fists clenched at his sides.
My momma takes a stunned Rebel from me and takes her inside.
