Rafael woke up in Amber’s room and his wife is nowhere to be found; he wears his clothes and went to his own room. He took a shower and went downstairs; he saw Tess sweeping the floor.
“Did you see Amber?” He asked.
“She’s in the garden, sir.” Tess replied. He nodded and went to find his wife.
Wife. He never once envisions his self calling someone his wife at the age of 28. He is expecting his self to marry at the age of 34 or so.
He arrived at the garden and found his wife watering the flowers again, for a moment he imagined his mother and Amber happily talking in the garden while watering the plants. His mother is nature lover and the garden in his house is one of his mother’s request. When his mother visits him, she would always check the garden and make sure that it was well taken care off.
Rafael slowly and quietly approached Amber and suddenly hugged her gasps.
“Rafa!” She glared at him and pinched his right hand using her free hand. “I told you not to startle me.” She added.
“I can’t help it, you’re adorable every time I startle you.” Rafael chuckled, giving her an idea.
“Is that so…” She said and sprinkled the water on them.
“Hey! I just took a bath!” Rafael said and let go of her, his reaction made Amber laugh.
“Too bad. I still didn’t take a bath.” She teased and continue spraying the water on him.
“So, that is how you play, eh?” Rafael smirked and grabbed the water hose from her and started spraying the water on her.
“S-stop it!” She screamed but Rafael didn’t stop; he had other plans. He pulled her in his arms and pulled the hose making the water sprinkled on them. “Hey! We’re both wet now.” Amber said, her hands on his chest.
“That doesn’t matter.” Rafael grinned and captured her lips. Her lips is so addicting that he can’t get enough kissing her.
“R-rafa…” Amber moaned his name when their lips separated; their forehead were touching. “Every time we kiss, we end up doing something.” She said, her cheeks are blushing.
“Now that you mentioned it…” Rafael smiled—more likely he widely grinned.
“I know that look in your face.” Amber slightly pushed him. “I’m still sore from last night.” She blushingly said making Rafael laughed. He indeed can’t get enough of her last night and he took her multiple times.
“I know.” Rafael said and moved away from her to turn off the water sprinkler. “Let’s go and fix ourselves.” He said intertwining their fingers.
“My goodness! What happened to the both of you?” Nana Mildred asked in horror upon seeing them drenched in water.
“It is Rafael’s fault, Nana.” Amber said pouting.
“It is my fault now?” Rafael asked and chuckled. “Should I remind you how we ended up drenched?” Rafael asked and grabbed her by the waist.
“Behave!” Amber said putting a finger on his lips. Rafael grinned and pecked her fingers making Amber’s eyes grew wide.
“What were you saying?” He teased. Amber glared at him and pinched his waist. “That hurts.” He complained.
“Heh! It’s your fault!” She rolled her eyes.
Seeing the two of them bickered made Nana Mildred smiled, it means that their relationship is progressing.
“why don’t you go up and dry yourselves.” Nana Mildred said, smiling.
Rafael pulled Amber by his side—his arm on Amber’s waist.
“Hon, Nana Mildred said that we should dry ourselves.” Rafael said smirking. “I know a fastest way to dry us up.” He whispered.
“Arrgh! Rafa!” She uttered in embarrassment. “Nana Mildred is in front of us.” She warned, but Rafael is not bothered by it—instead he just laughed it off. She is about to leave Rafael when she remembered something, she looked at Nana Mildred. “Nana, can I ask a favor?” She asked.
“Yes, what is it?” Nana Mildred asked.
“Can you please cook Bicol express for lunch? And can you make it super spicy?” She said, her eyes are glistering; just thinking about it makes her mouth water. Bicol express is a spicy food made of pork, chillies, coconut milk, shrimp paste, onion and garlic.
“Are you sure about that?” Rafael asked, worried. “You might not take it.”
“Don’t worry about it, Rafa.” She said. “I’m really craving for Bicol express.”
“Bicol express it is, but Nana will make it not super spicy as you want it to be.” Rafael said. “If you insist on what you want, I will decide on what we will have for lunch.” Rafael said sternly.
“Fine!” Amber pouts, making Rafael smile.
“Good girl.” Rafael said and intertwined their fingers. “What else do you want?” He asked.
“Hmm… Do we have vegetables for pinakbet? It’s been a long time since I eat that.” She said after thinking hard. Pinakbet is an indigenous Filipino dish from the Northern regions of the Philippines. It is made from mixed vegetables—bitter melon, string beans, eggplant, squash, lady finger and pork, steamed in fish or shrimp sauce.
“Yes, we have. I’ll cook it for you then.” Nana Mildred answered. “How about you, Rafael, do you have something in mind?” She asked.
“No, I’m okay with what Amber wants.” Rafael answered. Nana Mildred nodded and went to the kitchen.
“Now, let’s go and dry ourselves.” He said and pulled her to the stairs. “what do you want for dessert?” Rafael asked as they climb up the stairs.
