The man laughed coldly. “What a joke!” He mocked mercilessly. “Allison, you’re so full of yourself Look at yourself Why on earth would I be interested in you? If it weren’t for your constant attempts to seduce me, I wouldn’t even spare you a glance” 

Fair enough” Allison retorted sarcastically 

Why would he be interested in her? The thought brought a pang of pain to her heart 

A cold wind carrying rain swept into the cave, making her shiver. 

She hadn’t expected the hot summer morning to turn so cold by night 

“Mr Lindberg, what brings you deep into the forest? Was it for her? 

Lucian’s expression was icy, the cave barely lit by a faint fire 

1 got lost “He answered, looking at Allison’s slender back. He paused briefly, then added, “Just happened to bump into you. I didn’t think you’d be dumb enough to wander deep into the forest” 

“Oh” Allison said. “So I’m the dumb one for wandering into the forest What about you, Mr. Lindberg?” 

The man gritted his teeth, ‘Allison‘” 

In the middle of the night, the man fell unconscious 

Allison stayed by his side, calling his name repeatedly, “Lucian, Lucian!” 

“Lucian, don’t fall asleep!” 

It was cold, and he was running a fever. If he fell asleep, who knew what could happen? 

She slapped his cheek lightly, “Lucian, open your eyes.” 

He opened his eyes groggily. 

His vision was blurry, his mind a mess. He vaguely saw a woman’s silhouette. 

Her lips were moving, her eyes bright, but he couldn’t understand what she was saying. 

The face gradually merged with a young one deeply etched in his memory

Lucian’s vision blurred again, and he closed his eyes. 

Allison cried out in panic, “Lucian!” 

At three in the morning, the rain stopped.

Allison looked up and immediately started running in that direction. 

Someone was coming to rescue them! 

Her eyes were filled with hope. The recent rain had made the ground slippery, and mud pits were everywhere. Allison didn’t know how many times she fell. She kept stumbling and running towards the flare. 

Allison was suddenly tripped by a stone. She tried to prop her body up with her hands, struggling to get up. But her eyelids were getting heavier, and her vision was beginning to blur 

She felt her strength fading. But Lucian was still waiting for her. 

She propped her body up with her hands. It seemed like something had torn her palms, her legs too. 

She gasped heavily in pain 

Just then, “Captain, there’s someone here” 

lan rushed over, seeing the woman down on the ground. He swiftly went over to help her up. The woman’s eyes were moist. She tightly gripped his arm and said, “Lucian’s in the cave. You guys hurry. He’s been bitten by a snake 

Her voice was getting weaker. With that, she slowly closed her eyes. 

lan immediately directed his team, “Go, now!” 

He took off his glove and placed his hand on her forehead. This woman had a high fever. He looked at the night sky, calmly instructing his team, ‘Shoot a red flare. Tell them we’ve found the people. It’s critical. Get a chopper here for rescue now!” 

“Roger!” 

He looked down at the woman in his arms. He took off his glove and gently moved the hair off her face. She was beautiful. This was the exciting woman 

Aldan mentioned, and Lucian had gone into the forest alone for her.
