“Doc, how could my baby be fine after I was pushed down so hard? I didn’t miscarry, but there must be some damage,” she said, pulling a bank card from her bag. 

After the doctor left, Margo came in “Ms. Flanagan, I heard Carter is in Mr. Lindberg’s room now.” 

“Carter’s here?” Penelope jumped up at the news. Margo rushed over to help her as Penelope made a few steps before returning “Where’s my patient gown?” 

Penelope hated the hospital gowns and refused to put one on during her stay, but now she had to 

Margo understood Penelope’s request, “It’s in the bathroom. I’ll get it 

Penelope moved quickly through the process, her brisk pace contradicting her pregnant state. 

Her and Lucian’s rooms were on different floors. She exited the elevator and, with Margo’s help, arrived at Lucian’s room. 

Feigning weakness, she pushed open the door and acted surprised to see the people in the room, “Carter, Cora, Miranda, you’re all here?” 

Her innocent and clueless demeanor was a testament to her acting skills. 

Cora was shocked to see Penelope in a hospital gown, “Penelope, what happened?” 

Penelope, pretending to be caught off guard, glanced at Lucian hesitantly, “I’m fine, I’m fine, it’s just…” 

Margo, understanding Penelope’s intention, was about to say, “Ms. Flanagan was… 

Before she could finish her sentence, a deep, raspy male voice interrupted. 

Lucian, looking at Penelope with a warning in his eyes, said, “She had a minor bump. For safety’s sake, she’s resting here after a check–up” 

Margo was taken aback, looking to Penelope for guidance. 

Penelope had intended to blame the incident on Allison in front of Carter and the Lindberg family. However, before she could say anything, Lucian cut her off, insisting it was Penelope’s own clumsiness. 

Penelope’s expression changed slightly, the warning in Lucian’s voice making her nervous. She forced a laugh, “Ah, yes, I was careless; I bumped into something.” 

Miranda came over, concerned about the baby, “How could you be so careless?” 

Cora asked, “What did the doctor say? How are you feeling now?” 

Penelope leaned weakly against Margo, her face adorned with a forced smile, “Don’t worry about me, I’m fine.” 

“Look at you, you’re pale. You can’t possibly be fine.” 

Margo interjected, “Ms. Flanagan was concerned about Mr. Lindberg’s health and wanted to see him. I couldn’t stop her. She hurried over before she could finish her IV.”
