The next morning, Lucian woke up with headache. He sat up, pressing his hand against his stomach. The pain eased a bit, but some discomfort lingered.
He looked around, recognizing his home in Magnolia Gardens.
He remembered getting sloshed last night, but beyond that, everything was a blur.
Just then, his Alaskan Malamute bounded over, barking twice.
"Who brought me home last night?" Lucian asked.
Lucky, being the good boy he was, sat by the bed, chewing his tail.
"Have you seen that person before?" Lucian got up, checking out his clothes. He was still in his white shirt and black suit pants from last night, which were now wrinkled.
Lucky barked once, looking up at him.
Lucian chuckled, getting up to head to the bathroom. After a shower, he wrapped himself in a towel, his hair still dripping wet.
He popped a couple of stomach pills, and dialed Shawn on his phone, asking, "Did you bring me home last night?"
The answer from the other end was a no.
A puzzled look crossed Lucian's face.
Lucky was usually a temperamental and big dog, paying no mind to anyone but a few familiar faces. If any strangers showed up at Magnolia Gardens, Lucky would chase them off in a heartbeat.
Suddenly, Lucian noticed Lucky chewing on something.
"What are you eating?" Lucian walked over to ask.
He pulled an earring out of Lucky's mouth.
It was a hexagram earring.
Under the sunlight, the earring sparkled.
Lucian remembered getting hammered at the Red Jack Club last night and then drawing a blank.
Whose earring was this?
A delicate and beautiful face flashed across Lucian's mind.
"Probably not. We're about to introduce new models. You might want to check out other styles in the store; there's a discount today if you buy two."
Allison glanced at the time; it was around one in the afternoon.
She hesitated, but eventually decided to head to Magnolia Gardens.
She was going to find Lucian and get her earring back.
Magnolia Gardens was one of the top ten luxury villas in Northfield, boasting the best design and location.
Allison thought she would be stopped by the security, but they let her in, saying, "You're here to see Mr. Lindbergh, right?"
Last night, Allison had driven Lucian's car back, and both security guards had seen her.
Allison nodded.
With no further questions, they let her in.
As Allison approached the villa, Lucky spotted her from behind the black wrought iron gate and immediately wagged his fluffy tail in her direction.
