Natalie chirped, "Absolutely, wrap it up quick!"
"Of course, just a moment, please."
Penelope snorted, "This is the gift I picked out for my mom. Why on Earth would she wear a necklace that's barely worth a couple hundred bucks?"
"Penelope, you've got such good taste. This one's a limited edition. We only have two in the entire store."
As soon as they walked out of the boutique, a woman wearing sunglasses strolled in.
The sales associate immediately recognized her and greeted her warmly, "Ms. Daisy."
"What did those two ladies purchase?"
From outside, Daisy Santos had spotted Penelope and Natalie in the jewelry boutique—a store under the Santos Inc. umbrella, where she often shopped for the latest pieces.
"The ladies bought two necklaces—one a simple freshwater pearl and the other from our exclusive 'Eternal Rose' diamond collection."
Daisy raised an eyebrow, "One just over two hundred bucks, and the other six grand? What's Penelope up to?"
Given that this was a Santos Inc. store, the salesgirl didn't hold back and shared what she had overheard. Daisy scoffed, "I should've known. That woman's up to no good, giving Ms. Grace such a cheap trinket?"
Allison massaged her temples, recounting succinctly, "She fainted and was taken to the hospital by paramedics. Penelope happened to be there and tagged along. It was last night's drama. When I got there, Penelope had bribed the paparazzi to hide and snap pictures of me, but I caught them."
Daisy was slow to catch on, "Why would she take photos of you?"
Allison's lips curved into a wry smile, "Probably to spin a story about how this outsider is so good to Grace, while I, the 'daughter,' wasn't by her side."
Daisy quickly understood, her anger flaring, "That's just wicked. She pins the ungrateful label on you and basks in praise from netizens! No, I need to teach her a lesson!"
"I've already given her a piece of my mind last night. I had Emma record her for most of the evening. Since she's so keen on playing the devoted caretaker, let her. She wants to put on a show? Fine. Let her take care of Grace from now on. Sounds like a plan to me."
