Chapter 178: To please the In–Law
“You father had saved Mr. Jackson when he was child. Mr. Jackson was a butler,” Stella explained.
“Butler?”
“He was in charge of taking care of us when your father was out on a trip. But then your sister disappeared, and your father went looking for her and did not return. I went to bed with my mother for help, and she promised to look, but Emma was never found. By the time I brought you back to the house, your father’s mother had sold our home and grandpa Jackson had died. I couldn’t contact anyone,” Stella explained.
“All these years, no one ever explained it to me.” Anya asked.
“Your father’s mother always hated me and wanted nothing to do with me, so your father did not take me back often. It was odd that she suddenly took back our home, and I could not fight for it.” Stella said through her teeth.
Anya could tell talk of her father and his family was agitating her mother, so she changed the
topic.
“Mum, why did your father leave all his property to you?” Anya asked, and Stella paused.
“To me?” she asked.
“Yes. You were taken, mom. I thought you were dead; they even gave me your fake ashes to throw away. I got divorced and moved back to our former home. But Daniel soon found someone like you and hooked you to this machine to find my father. Afterwards, Uncle tried to sell me.” Anya started to recount what she had gone through.

“Sell you?” Stella asked in horror.
“Don’t worry. Daniel was there. I am fine, am I not? But that is when I found Emma.”
explained.
Emma, you found Emma?“,
basically stood up sharply.
“Yes, mom. I will call her to come over,” Anya said, and Stella broke into sobs.
Anya
“Mom, grandma… Your mother had found Emma years ago and forced her into marriage. It’s because Grandpa left you everything. Uncle is not your father’s son. As long as you married or Emma and I did, the property would pass to us. She wanted to get rid of us,” Anya said.
Hearing this, Stella fumed. How could the town mother do this? Just for a son?
The moment Daniel left the room, he called his mother for help. He even considered his maternal grandmother too. His mother–in–law had a strong opinion about him and their family. He needed backup.
“You actually called me! Is the world ending?” His mother, Wendy, exclaimed the moment she picked up his call.

“Put Grandma on,” Daniel said to her.
“Why?” she asked. He was the one who had called her. But, when he heard her excited voice, he recalled how dramatic his mother could be. His maternal grandmother was here to visit old
master Rhodes.
“I am meeting my in–law. Grandma should come support me. It doesn’t look good,” he said, and on the other end, his grandmother, Amanda, snatched the phone from Wendy.
“She is finally awake? Thank God. Anya will be pleased. But, why doesn’t it look good?” she
asked.
“My mother–in–law is Stella Jones, or better known as Stella Grey,” he said, and she paused.
“Which Stella Grey?” Wendy asked, and he realized the phone was probably on speaker.
“That Stella Grey,” he answered.
“Then your father–in–law is probably…” Amanda started.
“James Grey,” he completed.
“I thought your wife was a normal civilian,” Wendy said.
“Mother–in–law seems separated from James Grey. For that to have happened, it seems something happened to James Grey all these years since he has not been seen in public,” he explained.
“So, the Grey family is hiding him?” Amanda asked.
“Probably. Something must have happened. It seems my mother–in–law hates rich families. It must have something to do with the Grey family,” he explained, then hesitated.
“It also has something to do with us and how Anya was treated for years.
“Where are you? I am coming,” Amanda said.
And just like that, in a few minutes, Wendy and Amanda had dashed into the hospital.
Anya had only just processed what her mother had said when there was a knock on the door.
Anya was meeting Daniel’s grandmother for the first time, and she made quite the Impression. Wendy had already chosen sides. The moment Wendy walked in, she declared, “In
Lew, the Grey Family are our enemies.”
Her words made Daniel sigh. What did this mean? That had business with the greys.
“This is my mother, Wendy,” he introduced the dramatic woman. She looked too young to be his mother, but Stella chocked it up to being well maintained.
Daniel expected his grandmother to be the reasonable one.
When Amanda saw Anya, she smiled
“And this must be Anya. I am Daniel’s grandmother. You can call me grandma,” Amanda said.
“Grandma,” Anya greeted. This pleased the old lady greatly.
Good girl, come give grandma a hug,” Amanda answered, and Anya’s heart warmed. She shyly went over to hug the old woman.
“This woman who has enemies is my daughter. You already know her and her gossiping mouth,” Amanda introduced Wendy, making Anya chuckle.
“Mom,” Wendy scolded.
“Mother,” Anya greeted Wendy, and Wendy smiled widely.
“Good girl,” she answered.
“Hello, in law. I heard you were here and came to visit,” Amanda said and gestured to James to step forward.
“This grandson of mine did wrong. He should have greeted you earlier. I did not teach him well,” Amanda apologized.
“You are enemies with the Grey family?” This was all Stella concentrated on.
“Grey? What Grey Family?” Amanda asked, and the room froze.
“We do not know any Grey Families, dear,” she insisted, and Daniel had no words. He thought his mother was unreasonable. But he forgot that his grandmother was even more
unreasonable.
“You do not know them?” Stella was speechless. They are all great families known across the country; how could she claim to not know them?
“We have never heard of a Grey family. In fact, none of my Shaw family have heard of them,
