Chapter 228: ANYA IS PREGNANT. 

Meanwhile, in the conference room of the Shaw Group’s headquarters, Daniel sat calmly at the head of the long table, looking on coldly as he listened to the discussion that had been brought up. Gerald Kent, the CEO of Kent Corporation, was arguing passionately for the dismissal of Angela. 

“We can’t afford to work with such an artist,” Gerald insisted, his voice firm. 

Daniel listened intently, his mind already several steps ahead. “Not only can’t we be afraid to, we can’t let go when they throw mud.” 

Just as the discussion was reaching a critical point, the directors brought up another matter: 

the handling of Anya’s recent incident. 

They questioned why the employee responsible, Anya Jones, had not faced any repercussions for her actions, as many agreed that she should not have slapped the woman no matter what took place. 

Daniel’s expression turned cold at their question, but there was a hint of amusement in his eyes. “Are you suggesting we discipline my wife?” 

The room fell silent, the directors exchanging uneasy glances. It was clear they had not been aware of Anya’s connection to Daniel. 

Just then, Daniel’s secretary, Linda, entered the conference to urge you, interrupting the discussion. “I’m sorry to interrupt, sir, but the old madam is on the line. She says it’s urgent.” 

Daniel’s demeanor shifted slightly as he excused himself from the meeting. But he had not 

even walked far when he heard her say.

“Daniel, dear, I have something important to tell you; Anya is pregnant,” his grandmother said in a serious voice. 

The moment those words reached his ears, his expression changing quickly, “What?” he asked, he was both surprised and happy. His Anya was carrying his child. 

He stood up suddenly and excused himself in a hurry. “I’m sorry, everyone. I have a family emergency to attend to,” he said and ran as though escaping. 

As Daniel left the conference room, everyone inside was confused. A family issue? Was it that wife of his? 

Anya sat on the edge of the bed, her hands trembling as she stared at the pregnancy test in disbelief. The two pink lines stared back at her, confirming what she had suspected but dared not believe. She was pregnant. 

• The news hit her like a large wave on a cold night. A lot of emotions rolled through her: shock, fear, and a flicker of excitement. She did not dare to admit it. She had never expected this, never planned for it, and now she was faced with a reality that seemed like a dream. 

Sarah burst into the room, her eyes completely excited as she took in Anya’s expression. “Oh, my grandbaby in law, it is real, isn’t it??” She exclaimed, rushing to her side. 

Anya nodded silently, unable to find her voice in the midst of the chaotic thoughts and emotions crashing through her mind. 

Sarah enveloped Anya in a tight hug; her excitement was electrifying. “This is amazing news, Anya! You’re going to be a mother. I am going to be a great grandmother.” 

When Daniel arrived home, he was beyond happy. Anya was scared about the news and suddenly found Daniel’s face annoying and won’t see him.

He was confused and did not know what to do. 

Seeing his panic, his family laughed and told him that it happens. Pregnant women are that 

way. 

Daniel went into the room carefully and kneeled beside her. Not saying anything, he began massaging her legs. 

“What? Are you accepting your fault?” she asked him. 

“Yes. I am at fault,” he said, and Anya looked away with a slight scoff. 

The next second, he carried her gently out the door. 

“Let me down!” She shouted at him. 

“Let’s see a doctor, okay?” he said. 

Anya was too in a sour mood to answer him. She let him arrange everything. 

From taking her to the doctor to all the procedures. 

After everything was done, he told her to wait for him while he paid the bill and left quickly. Anya snorted and looked away. 

Just then, she heard a voice call her. 

• She looked up and fixed Kelsey a cold stare. It was as though she wanted to tear her apart. Anya’s mood was bad, and her temper was terrible these days. 

Why was Kelsey here? In the Obstetrics department of all places too. She needed to only put two together in her head and understood. 

She had heard that Kelsey had been arrested for hurting her future mother–in–law, and the two families fought. She got all this news from her grandmother, who called and asked her to 

come home to help Kelsey. 

When she thought of that phone call, Anya felt the need to scoff. She did not know what was 

going on in the head of that old woman all the time. 

It seems Andrew’s family could not do anything to Kelsey because she was pregnant. But Anya doubted that Kelsey was pregnant at all.

“Are you smoking weed?” Anya asked and glanced at her indifferently before making to walk 

around her. 

But old ghosts would never give up the opportunity to hunt their prey. Kelsey immediately blocked her way. 

“Move,” Anya said. 

“Anya, its been long; can’t we even say hi when we meet? It can’t be that you are still hung up on my husband.” She asked loudly. 

“If you want to join the opera, go ahead. Anyone listening would have thought you are afraid there is no microphone to air your grievances,” Anya answered, but Kelsey was undaunted.
