“You remember what happened yesterday, right?” she asked. 

“No, I seem to have lost my memory,” he answered and her eyes widened. 

“What? They said you were fine!” she exclaimed. If he lost his memory, how was she supposed to pay for this VIP treatment? 

“I don’t recall being married,” he said and she sighed in relief. 

“Don’t scare me,” she said and walked over to the table on the corner and took a bottle of water from it and took a swing. 

“Don’t worry too much about the wife thing. They wanted to call the police with I brought you in and I said it was a home accident. They kept asking so I said we had a shooting ring at home. Somehow it developed to us being married,” 

“You are not a good liar, are you?” Marcus asked, “How does your excuse go haywire?” 

“I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to see the police,” she said 

“Why?” His eyes narrowed. He suspected that she was from a rival family. Why would she weave such a scenario? What did she want to get out of this situation? 

“It doesn’t matter why. Just take not; If you want to report what happened to you last night, you can’t involve me.” Hazel brushed off his question. 

“You knew my name was Green, you told people you were my wife and even got me in this VIP suit. If you claimed that you did not have an ulterior motive, who would believe it?” he asked and she paused, her eyes looking at him in astonishment and later on anger. 

“Are you crazy? I saw the name Green on your handkerchief. Since I would only need to use my ID when discharging you, I gave your name instead of mine to register you in. I thought you would wake up and discharge yourself an I would never have to put down my identification,” she fumed. 

“And the VIP room?” he asked. His cold eyes only angered her more, Who did he think he was? 

“As for this hospital room, you should explain it to me. They saw your expensive clothes and put you in here like some big shot. What if you did not wake up and I had to pay for this?” she returned his cold stare with even colder ones. He cheeks puffed in her anger, she looked like a puffer fish, he could not take her seriously. 

“I have to be careful about these things. I suddenly woke up with a wife, it is easy to overthink,” he said and she sneered and raised her hand to stop him.

“Since you are awake, you can call your family or friends and handle the rest. I will be leaving,” she turned to walk away. 

“How can you leave? I have not recovered,” he asked. 

“What does this have to do with me?” she paused and looked back at him to ask. 

“You are my wife and you are going to leave me here alone? Mrs. Green, since you have already told such a lie, you should at least see it to the end when I am discharged,” he said and her eyes narrowed dangerously. 

“It can’t be that you are not some big shot and are trying to get me to pay for this, right?” she asked suspiciously. 

“I can pay my own hospital bill, you do not need to worry.” he let out a small smile. 

“Then what?” 

“Since you have told such an elaborate lie, you might as well see it through to the end; at least till I am discharged.” 

Hazel thought she had heard the most ridiculous words ever. She almost laughed out loud. The more this man opened his mouth, the more she disliked him. How can someone look so godly but be so infuriating. His beauty was wasted on him. After accusing her and barely apologizing, he wanted her to help him out?

room. 

“You are not afraid I will tell the police about a woman who must have witnessed what happened to me? Given that you brought me in and even lied about being my wife, what are the chances the police would not think you are a suspect?” he said to her leaving back and watched her freeze. She turned around and looked at him in shock. 

“That taxi driver was right, I should not pick up random people in the city,” Hazel said. She could not believe that she saved a person’s life and he actually turned around to threaten her. Since the moment she walked in till this moment, he was yet to thank her for saving his life. Every word he uttered had a hint of condemnation. Yet he still dared to threaten her?

your conscience to the wolves? Did I do wrong to save your life? Why can’t just let me leave?” she asked. He saw the confusion in her eyes and for a moment, he felt uncomfortable. 

“Don’t over think too much, I just think your lie is useful and want to keep it going a few days,” he said and she let out a small laugh.
