The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel) novel Chapter 263

Hazel had been in Marcus’ home for more than a few hours. She had stayed in the room she was given too long without stepping out. But she could not take it anymore. She decided to at least go home for her things.

She carefully descended from the stairs when she heard talking, followers a by a scream and a gunshot. She jumped at the sound and wanted to escape back to her room, but she was too slow.

A large sack leaking blood was being dragged by wolf away from the stairs. She had been spotted, because she heard Marcus say, “Stop.”

“Please, I won’t tell anyone.”

Hazel dreaded this moment very much. She thought of all the things she had done wrong that got her to this point.

“ I promise I will not tell anyone, Mr. Green.” No matter how many times she begged he remained paused, staring at her as though he had just discovered something interesting.

“How am I sure you’re not going to tell anyone? ”

“I am really tight lipped, I will take it to the grave,” she said.

“You are right, it will be safer in the grave; if not you, at least my secret, ” Marcus said, and she fell to dread over her all over again. She racked her brain, looking for something to say to save her life this very moment. She was not stupid, she had seen everything and he knew it. She knew he had killed someone and there was no explanation her mind could make up that did not reach that conclusion.

“So now what? ” she asked.

When he saw the defeated look on her face, for some reason he was not pleased. He did enjoy her begging, but her look of defeat bothered him greatly. Feeling slightly uncomfortable, and definitely irritated, heroes to his feet and felt agitation come over him as he paced around his office.

“I will do everything you ask, I will not leave your sight if you don’t want me to, ”

He turned around and looked at her small figure by the corner, and something about her shivering irritated him. Marcus could be called a predator, he could smell fear. I’m his line of work, it was both his weapon and his sense of being. But when he smelled her fear, it annoyed him.

“Not so brave now, are you? ” he asked. For some reason, his words sparked a thought in her head; did he enjoy this? Did he enjoy watching her pain? At that moment, she stood and stared at him straight in the face.

“What are you going to do with me? ” she asked.

“No more scared? ” he asked.

“Are you going to kill me? ” she asked him, and his eyes narrowed. Her emotions were consistent; she was scared from the moment she saw what he was, but her reaction bounds between cowardice and bravery. Sometimes she dared not look at him, the next time she was full of courage. He was utterly curious about her.

“How could I kill my savior?” he asked and she nodded walked right past him down the stairs.

“Leaving this place is dangerous, where are you going?” he asked.

She paused at the door and looked back at him, “I have no clothes here, ” she said and left him standing there.
