The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel) novel Chapter 274

“They didn’t agree at first. But I talked to a friend who had pull and begged till she spoke for me and they let me,” she said and he nodded. For some reason, his eyes lingered on her face for a bit.

He was not sure why her story angered him a bit. Was it because he was now calling her his wife? Or was it because he had their marriage registered abroad. He could not put his finger on it, but his anger was slightly hot.

“How is that not bullying?” he said coldly, squeezing her hand. “They ignored you just because of some rumors?”

Vivian met his gaze, a small smile tugging at her lips.

She could tell he was angry on her behalf.

For some reason, she felt her heart sing. He was behaving unusually. He would call her baby at any moment and touch her when he felt like it.

Or some reason, she was not revolted by this. She could not tell was this man was thinking, but she understood he wanted her to get used to him. They could not act as a couple if she was so afraid of him and flinched at his every touch. She was not sure why he needed a wife, but it did not matter. As long as he was dedicated to taking care of Maya’s medical needs, she would do her part..

“It stopped in college. I may not have made deep friends, but people talked to me. And it got better when an ex, Donald introduced me to his friends,” she said and Mathew’s mood dipped. He was not sure why but he did not like the idea of her having an ex.

“You met him in college?” he asked and she felt he was angry.

“Yes. Now that I think about it, be approached me first. Even though it seemed that we met coincidentally, it was definitely a set up. Never mind it is a long story” She said, brushing the topic away.

Mathew also did not want to hear more about this. He was trying to understand his mood. The thought that she had someone she had loved when she still kept him at arms length bothered him for some reason.

“What do we do about the marriage thing? When will you register it? Won’t people find out we only registered our marriage if they check?” she asked. She was worried that those she had met claiming to be his wife would look into it.

“What is there to worry about? Even if they check, it will show that we are married,” he said.

“What?” she asked.

“I pulled some strings,” he said.

“Pulled as in…” Vivian thought that she had heard wrong.

“As in, it is legal and according to records, we have been married for a month,” he said and she stared at him as though he had grown two heads.

“Wait, we just talked about this yesterday. I did not even have the time to decide, yet you went ahead and registered the marriage?” she basically screamed.

“This is out of you hands now, Vivian,” he said standing up. She was able to tell he was getting ready to leave.

“Since last night, there was a family matter. I can’t have such a lie being dug up. Don’t worry. As long as you do not tell anyone, no one would know,” he said and started to leave, but she grabbed him.

“You just went ahead to file some document I did not even sign and back dated it without saying anything?” she asked in such a low voice that it pierced his heart. For some reason, Vivian was not okay with the fact that she did not even sign the document and she is now married. It bothered her greatly.

“Vivian, you may have forgotten what kind of relationship we were in,” he said coldly and she let go sharply.

The moment those words left his mouth, he regretted it. Her reaction and the look in her eyes made him want to punch something.

“Mr. Shaw, I have a feeling you want a bait. You said you will take care of Maya and you would protect me through out. But you never said you will be gorging documents. I apologize. I thought I would know when it happens” she said softly.
