The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel) novel Chapter 278

As Mathew ended the call with Jerry, his mind raced with a thousand thoughts and possibilities.

He knew that telling Vivian about her dealings with Mercy could go south, but he could not avoid it.

He knew the kind of woman he married. He trusted that she was not only logical, but sometimes ruthless. She did not mind Mercy getting on her bad side if it brought them both together.

As he waited for Jerry to send over the documents, Mathew’s thoughts turned to the clause that Jerry had mentioned, the one concerning Mercy taking over as her executor of state and person.

The moment anyone one looked at this, they would believe that Mercy was planning something, even Vivian. He was not using her this time. But he did not mind using other people to keep her by his side.

He did not care about others; he felt that the safest place for Vivian was by his side.

Finally, the email from Jerry arrived, and Mathew wasted no time in opening it and looking over the contents.

As he read through the documents, noting everything he wanted to show her.

There, in black and white, was the clause about the transferring her executor of state and person to Mercy.

They not only wanted the safe, but they also wanted his wife too. Mathew was not a forgiving man and everyone knew this.

They were rushing it now that they knew she was married to him or for something else. Either way, he has no intention of sitting still.

A darkness swirled in Mathew’s eyes for a second before his phone rang again. It was his mother.

“What do you mean by you are going to live with Vivian?” she screamed the moment his phone touched his ear.

“Good evening, mother. I am starting to think that my friends have betrayed me, cause why else would they tell my mother about my every move?” Mathew asked.

“It is generally agreed now that someone should keep an eye on you before you do something stupid. You think using Vivian as bait is not stupid enough? What if you make a mistake and make things worse?” she asked.

“Then I will roll over and die,” he said.

“Shut up! Don’t sprout rubbish,” she scolded him immediately. They both knew he was serious when he said those words.

“It is fine. I won’t do anything stupid,” he said.

“Where are you?” she asked.

“In Rose Mansion,” he answered after a while.

“Why?” she asked.

“I moved in,” he answered simply.

“I know you moved in, I am asking why and how? Did you barge in? Don’t torment that poor girl,” His mother scolded.

“Why do I feel that all you do these days is scold me?” Mathew asked.

“If you had behaved like a normal human being, would I be going having a headache every other day? If you want me to stop scolding you, show me your ability. Bring my daughter-in-law back. I will bow to you then,” she scoffed.

“You won’t go back on your words, right? If so, shouldn’t you bow to me now?” he asked.

“What does that mean?” she asked anxiously.

“I will explain later. I need to go,” he said, ending the call. He had more important things to deal with at the moment. He could not have this conversation with her at the moment.

Mathew rose from the bed and made his way to Vivian’s room. With a knock, she opened the door.

“What is it?” she asked.

“Let’s talk. It is important.”

“I thought it was odd, so I did some digging. Mercy trying to claim ownership of not only that safe, but she also wants to become your executor of state and person. This document would transfer all that to her. This is the same document you are going to sign tomorrow.”

“Why? How am I supposed to believe this?” Her breathing became labored. She had already dreamt that tomorrow She would be free. Had she been fooled again? Or is Mathew just trying to stop her from going?

“Is it that Mercy is honest and impossible to craft such a thing and I am not trustworthy?” he asked, his eyes darkening greatly. He could tell she was suspicious of him.

“That is not the point,” she countered, “Why were you even searching this up?”

“I have been watching the 12 guns for a while now. I already knew they were preparing this, and knew about the safe. I just did not know who is was for. Since you mentioned it, I decided to show you,” he explained.

“You did not think anything of me, even using me as bait, now you decided to help me?” she scoffed.

She had always known that she was nothing in his eyes.

She did not believe that he would actually help her.

“You are my wife, Vivian. No matter what, that fact, will not change. I have no intention of letting anyone close enough to harm you again,” he corrected with a straight face and she was at a loss for words.

To this, she scoffed.

“If you do not trust me, you can go tomorrow, but I will make sure you are well protected even when you are there. But, Vivian, when you trust the person who set you up more than me, it make me jealous,” he said.

“Jealous?” she asked incredulously. It was as though someone had said that the gods cursed the romans because they charged into war with a flag made from Hestia’s undies,”

“Why not? I am human,” he answered.

“This document, wherever you got it, I will have to look at it myself, so there is nothing to bother about,” she dismissed him.

“Keep scrolling,” he instructs her, and she continues after a moment of hesitation.
