Chapter 55: Telling her
“Should it not be bad? What does it say?” Daniel asked.
“There is a hidden clause to transfer ownership of her art to the author of Autumn’s Snow,”
Neil said.
“The author, not Stanley, right?”
“What are you playing at?” Neil asked, “I know it looks like they are targeting your wife, but you and I both know who they truly want is you. They are trying to rope you into this Heracle project.”
“You are right, it is an interesting project.”
“But you still want to go ahead and tell her?” Neil asked.
“He put
his hand on her back,” Daniel said darkly, and Neil went silent on the other end.
“What about the lawyer?” he asked Neil.
“I have pictures and videos of them meeting this past week. It will be hard to argue,” Neil informed him. “But what if your wife still trusts them?”
To this, Daniel scoffed as his eyes narrowed dangerously. “Then it would seem as though Stanley looks down on the Shaw family. He had better figure it out and back off while I am being nice.” Daniel said darkly.
“Someone else is looking into your wife’s lawyer and that author.” Neil informed him, and Daniel paused.
Chapter 55. Telling ber
“Who?” Dantel asked.
“I don’t know, but they are good. The trace seems to be coming from Hammer City.” Neil answered. Immediately these words were spoken, and Daniel’s eyes flashed with realization.
“It’s my father,” he said.
“If the rest of your family are getting involved, then won’t they interfere?” Neil asked.
“They won’t,” Daniel said nonchalantly..
As Daniel ended the call with Neil, his mind raced with a thousand thoughts and possibilities. He knew that confronting Anya about her dealings with Stanley would be risky, but he could not avoid it. He knew the kind of woman he married. He trusted that she was astute and logical.
As he waited for Neil to send over the documents, Daniel’s thoughts turned to the clause that Neil had mentioned, the one concerning the copyrights of Anya’s work. The moment anyone looked at this, they would believe that Stanley was planning something, even his wife. He knew that if he crossed this line, there was no going back. He did not care, though; he felt that the safest place for Anya was by his side.
Finally, the email from Neil arrived, and Daniel wasted no time in opening it and poring over the contents. As he read through the documents, his suspicions were confirmed. There, in black and white, was the clause about the copyrights, along with evidence of Anya’s lawyer meeting with Stanley behind her back.
A darkness swirled in Daniel’s eyes for a second before his phone rang again. It was his mother.
“What do you mean by you are going to live with Anya?” She screamed the moment his phone touched his ear.
Chapter 55: Teling ber
“Good evening, mother. I am starting to think that my friends have betrayed me, because why else would they tell my mother about my every move?” Daniel asked.
“It is generally agreed now that someone should keep an eye on you before vo
you
do something stupid. You think divorcing Anya is not stupid enough? What if you make a mistake and make things worse?” she asked.
“Then I will roll over and die,” he said.
“Shut up! Don’t sprout rubbish,” she scolded him immediately. They both knew he was serious when he said those words.
“It is fine. I won’t do anything stupid,” he said.
“Where are you?” she asked.
“In Anya’s home,” he answered after a while.
“Why?” she asked.
“I moved in,” he answered simply.
“I know you moved in; I am asking why and how. Did you barge in? Don’t torment that poor girl,” his mother scolded.
“Why do I feel that all you do these days is scold me?” Daniel asked.
“If you had behaved like a normal human being, would I be going for throat massages every other day? If you want me to stop scolding you, show me your ability. Marry, my daughter–in- law is back. I will bow to you then,” she scoffed.

Chapter 5
“You won’t go back on your words, right? If so, shouldn’t you bow to me now?” he asked.
“What does that mean?” she asked anxiously.
“I will explain later. I need to go,” he said, ending the call. He had more important things to deal with at the moment. He could not have this conversation with her at the moment.
With a sense of determination, Daniel rose from the bed and made his way to Anya’s room. With a knock, she opened the door.
“What is it?” she asked.
“Let’s talk. It is important.”
The air in the dining room was heavy with tension as Daniel and Anya sat across from each other at the table. The dim light cast long shadows across their faces, accentuating the lines of worry etched into their features.
