Finally, Kieran couldn't take it anymore. He stormed out of his room, making a beeline for the source of the annoying noise at the far end of the house.
"Don't people know not to DIY at night?!"
Who in their right mind would do home improvements at this hour?
"Freya! You..." Before Kieran could finish his sentence, he saw Freya perched on a ladder, drilling into something with an electric drill.
The professional construction workers had cleared out a while ago.
Freya lost herself in the music with her headphones on, unaware of Kieran's presence.
Spotting her phone on a nearby table, Kieran marched over and hit the pause button.
Suddenly, Freya's world went silent.
"What happened to my Bluetooth?" Confused, Freya took off her headphones.
Then, she heard Kieran's voice from below. "Freya! Get down from there, now!"
His words startled her so much that she lost her balance, and she and the ladder toppled backward.
Kieran tried to dodge on instinct but got smacked right on the button by the falling ladder. A nearby paint can also tumbled over, splashing white paint all over him.
"Ouch!" Freya gasped in pain as she tried to stand up, her gaze landing on Kieran, a mess of white paint.
"Freya Dawson!" Kieran gritted his teeth.
