Mr. Garcia was visibly frightened. Having lived in Echo City for so long, they'd never messed with the big shots.
Who didn't know Ronan, fresh from his overseas exploits, was a high roller with connections to the darker sides of society? Messing with him meant bidding farewell to any semblance of a peaceful life.
Seeing the scene unfold before her, Freya frowned, "Preston, what's this all about?"
"It's quite clear. I'm standing up for you."
Preston, who seemed to have materialized on a nearby couch, lounged casually, suggesting he wasn't concerned about breaking the law.
"I'm not crazy like you, nor did I intend to take revenge in such a manner." Freya scowled, already planning her exit from this debacle.
Preston’s smile faded slightly.
"Boss, should we stop Ms. Dawson?"
Preston raised his hand, signaling Hans to back off. The women who usually flocked to him were all chasing his wealth and power.
But Freya was different. She didn't want his money, afraid of ending up behind bars. She didn't crave his power, claiming she wasn't as reckless as he was. So devoid of desires, why did she come close to him in the first place?
