The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 224

Kieran's gaze was sharp, piercing through the tension, "Freya, what exactly were you up to today? Out with it!"

Pain shot through Freya's arm, causing her to gasp sharply. Yet, she faced Kieran defiantly, pain be damned, and retorted, "What I did today, Mr. Sutton, wasn't all of it laid bare at the hospital? Why bother asking again?"

"Playing dumb now, are we?" Kieran's words carried a chilling edge as he confronted her, "You had someone trash Ellie's place tonight, didn't you?"

Freya blinked in surprise. Trashed Eloise's place?

"Freya, stop playing the innocent card! Yes, someone close to Ellie crossed you, but what does that have to do with Ellie herself? I had no idea you were this vindictive. Had I known, I would've had you expelled from Summit University!"

Hearing Kieran indiscriminately pinning the blame on her, indignation surged within Freya, "Kieran! I didn't do it!"

"Not you? Do you really expect me to believe that? You've been jealous of Ellie for ages. I thought at most you'd play some hard-to-get games, but to target Ellie directly?"

Each of Kieran's words felt like sharp needles against Freya's spine.

"Kieran, for the last time, I, Freya, am not that despicable!"

Despite the pain, Freya managed a cold laugh and said, "I know you fancy Eloise, yes, and I admit I once had feelings for you! But that doesn't make me guilty! I don't deserve to be the sacrificial lamb for your love story! I've already stepped back, what more do you want from me?"

Kieran paused, seemingly taken aback by Freya's outburst. For a moment, he saw the defiance, disgust, and the unyielding spirit in her eyes.

By the end of her speech, tears welled up in Freya's eyes.

She had been the sacrificial lamb in a previous life, a past she vowed never to revisit!
