The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 229

"Kieran, what are you implying? Are you doubting Ellie?" Caleb frowned, stating, "We've grown up together since we were kids. You know Ellie. She's not one to lie."

Kieran glanced at Caleb indifferently and coldly stated, "I'll ask Ellie again."

Caleb wanted to argue further, but Eloise grabbed his arm and addressed Kieran, "Kieran, I genuinely don't know who broke into my place, but I... I can only think of Ms. Dawson. After all, Mae and Cindy messed with her earlier today, and Ronan stood up for her. Maybe it was Ronan, but I can't be sure."

Eloise purposefully mentioned Ronan. In Echo City, it was common knowledge that Ronan and Kieran were arch-enemies who had been at loggerheads.

Kieran was already displeased upon hearing Ronan was involved with Freya.

Eloise figured bringing up Ronan would rile Kieran up like last time, but his face just got even more frosty. "So, you're saying you didn't catch who wrecked your pad."

Kieran's question caught Eloise off guard.

After all, when she tearfully called Kieran earlier, she had, intentionally or not, kept bringing up how she had offended Freya that day.

Otherwise, Kieran wouldn't have stormed to the Dawson family to bring Freya out.

Seeing the situation, Caleb immediately stood before Eloise, saying, "Kieran, what's this? An interrogation? You're questioning Ellie for Freya's sake?"

"Freya is inside, hurt, and we don't even know if she can keep her hand. There are things I need to clear up." Kieran's gaze was icy as he said, "Move aside."

"You!" Caleb still wanted to protect Eloise, but their altercation had attracted attention nearby.

"Isn't that Caleb?"
