The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 237

The day after, Kieran had his staff send Freya home while he, bright and early, headed off to a company meeting.

Throughout the meeting, Kieran was hardly present. His mind kept drifting back to the night before, replaying the scene where Freya lay in the hospital bed, lashing out at him.

The thought that Freya had been putting on an act made Kieran chuckle internally, and without realizing it, a pleasant curve formed at the corners of his mouth.

The sight caught everyone in the meeting room off guard.

"Mr. Sutton...what's going on?"

"Ahem!" Jarrett, seated nearby, cleared his throat, signaling to Kieran to mind the setting.

It was then that Kieran realized everyone in the room was eyeballing him. He quickly pulled himself together and said, kinda frostily, "Alright, let's go ahead with that partnership plan."

"Mr. Sutton, there's one more thing." One of the department managers said, "We started excavating a plot in the Southern Suburbs a few days ago, and just yesterday, we hit a natural spring. This discovery conflicts with our hot springs resort project for later this year. I suggest we immediately acquire this land to prevent the Southern Suburbs from becoming an obstacle to our plans. It could also serve as an expansion for our resort project."

Initially indifferent, Kieran felt a twinge of familiarity at the mention of "Southern Suburbs."

Jarrett was the first to connect the dots. He immediately turned to Kieran, saying, "Mr. Sutton, this Southern Suburbs... Isn't that where Ms. Dawson..."

Mentioning Freya, Kieran instantly recalled the auction where Freya had bid half a billion for the land in the Southern Suburbs.

Upon hearing that, Kieran's expression darkened, and he abruptly stood up.

The room fell silent.
