The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 243

Freya hobbled out of bed, each step a testament to her stubbornness.

Pushing open the door, the maid nearly dropped the bowl she was carrying at the sight. "Ms. Dawson! Mr. Sutton insisted you rest in bed these days, not on your feet! How did you get up?"

She rushed over to support Freya, who waved her concerns away. "I've been in bed for a whole day. Any longer, and I might as well be a statue!"

"But Mr. Sutton said..."

"He's not even home. Why bother about his rules?"

Just then, Kieran's icy voice cut through the silence from the doorway. "Is that so? I’m right here. Do you still think my rules don’t apply?"

Freya frowned, puzzled. Wasn't the Southern Suburb project supposed to keep Kieran tied up? Why was he back so early?

Kieran stepped toward Freya's room.

Seeing this, Freya pointed a crutch at him. "Stop right there!"

He paused, mid-step, as Freya declared, "We agreed I'm here to heal, not to entertain you barging into my room. Get out!"

Kieran merely chuckled at Freya's attempt to evict him, then strutted in as if he owned the place—which, technically, he did.

"Freya, it is my house. I don’t need your permission to walk in," he retorted, plucking the crutch from her grasp with ease.
