The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 311

In the world of close-knit relationships, there's nothing more grounding.

Dusk fell as Ronan dropped Freya off at her apartment building. No sooner had Ronan's car disappeared into the evening than Freya entered.

She immediately felt the watchful eyes of a few old ladies lounging around, their gazes following her every move.

But when Freya got to her rental, she noticed her door was slightly open. Inside, a woman in her forties was digging through the closet Freya had neatly arranged. The middle-aged lady had her hands all over Freya's suitcase, prying it open.

Upon seeing that, Freya's brows knitted in frustration. "What do you think you're doing?"

Unphased by Freya, the middle-aged woman didn’t alter her confrontational stance. "I'm terminating our lease. You can't stay here anymore, starting now!"

Freya couldn't help but laugh in disbelief. "I've paid. On what grounds are you kicking me out?"

"Because I own this place. If I say you're out, you're out!" The landlady’s tone was sharp. "This is a respectable home. I can't have someone like you tainting it. What if future tenants get sick because of you? Do you think I'd be able to rent it out again?"

"What are you implying? Sick with what?"

"Don't play dumb with me! Your antics are the talk of the neighborhood! Barely moved in, and you've entertained three different men. Who knows what kind of filth you'll bring into my house next?" The landlady's words were harsh and judgmental.

Freya's demeanor turned icy. "Watch your mouth!"
