Everyone around didn't take Freya's words to heart, thinking she was blowing smoke.
Yet, Kara knew better. Freya could pull it off, being the heiress of the Dawson family and Kieran's ex-fiancée, no less. Kieran had gone down to the police station to bail Freya out.
"Freya, why make it awkward for everyone? Maybe we shouldn't bother the chief over this. Today's mess is on the landlady, and I'll apologize on her behalf!" Kara was eager to end the situation.
But Freya wasn't about to let things slide so easily. Touched her belongings, insulted her in public, and tried to evict her without due process? She wasn't some pushover.
Before everyone's eyes, Freya whipped out her phone and dialed the chief's number, which went through instantly.
The chief's tone was unmistakably polite toward Freya, who wasted no time stating her location, apartment building, and unit number before coldly requesting, “I expect the chief here within twenty minutes. I have an urgent matter.”
The chief said, “It won’t take twenty minutes. For Ms. Dawson, I’ll be there in fifteen!”
As their call ended, Freya put the phone on speaker, shocking the bystanders.
Freya had indeed called the chief.
