The Bride Who Said No: Escaping the Shadows of Yesterday novel Chapter 401

As Johanna was speaking, she reached out to touch Freya's arm.

But Freya pulled away.

Johanna missed her chance, but still, a smile was plastered on her face. She said a bit hesitantly, "Freya, it’s your graduation day. Why didn’t Mr. Sutton come back with you?"

"Are you joking? Kieran and I have already called off our engagement. Why would he come back with me?"

Freya said coldly as she sat down on the living room sofa.

Johanna walked over to Freya quickly and said, "Freya, let’s not play dumb here. Everyone knows Kieran never really liked Eloise. You two didn’t need to break off your engagement! I know you’re kind-hearted and you did it to be noble, but that’s unnecessary now. Eloise is pretty much a nobody in our circles now. She can’t compete with you."

Johanna then got Freya a cup of tea.

Freya was surprised that Johanna was so well-informed to know about the situation between Eloise and Kieran so quickly.

"Johanna, the engagement is off. It’s pointless to talk about it. I can’t marry Kieran."

"Why are you being so stubborn? It’s clear to anyone with eyes that Mr. Sutton has feelings for you. Now that the obstacle is gone, what’s wrong with swallowing your pride and reconciling with Mr. Sutton? Without the Suttons’ support, what will become of the Dawsons? You don’t want to see your father’s empire crumble, do you?"

Seeing Johanna’s anxious and earnest look, Freya knew that the creditors must have come knocking.

Otherwise, Johanna wouldn’t be spouting such nonsense, even going so far as to suggest she marry into the Sutton family.

"Johanna, do you have anything else? If not, I have to head to the office to take care of some business."

Freya didn’t give Johanna any face.
