Chapter 250 So Easily Appeased?
The car arrived at Cassie’s neighborhood first. After getting out, Cassie finally mustered the courage to ask Kirk for a photo.
After Cassie exited, Marion felt even more awkward.
Fortunately, the car had been quiet all along. Marlon closed her eyes, pretending to sleep. Only when the car entered the villa area did she open her eyes.
Kirk beside her raised an eyebrow. “We’re here, Miss Cartier.”
“Ah, we have? Sorry, I’m a bit tired and dozed off.”
She spoke while pretending to yawn.
Kirk looked at her with a smirk. “Until the concert, Miss Cartier.”
“Sure, see you there.”
Marion looked at the familiar door of her home. Hastily opening the car door, she got out, saying, “Thanks for the lift. Be careful on the road.”
After bidding farewell, she was about to close the car door when Kirk suddenly said, “Wait.”
“Hmm?”
Did she drop something?
Marion looked down. However, her bag and phone were there; nothing was left behind.
While she was wondering, Kirk produced a rose. “Happy Valentine’s.”
Marion paused. She looked at the rose before saying to Kirk, “Happy Valentine’s, but I won’t take the flower. Thanks, though.”
“Don’t you feel unhappy not receiving flowers on Valentine’s?”
Kirk’s words struck a chord with Marion. She thought of Lucas, who had not even. sent her a simple “Happy Valentine’s” wish. Her heart felt a bit sour, but professionally and personally, she could not accept the flower from Kirk.
“My husband gave me one. Thanks anyway.”
Given Alice’s misunderstanding, Marion did not dare to think Kirk might like her. Perhaps, on this Valentine’s Day, Kirk was just being kind.
Thinking this way, Kirk suddenly added, “Oh, I forgot that Miss Cartier is married. My apologies if I offended you.”
Did he really forget or intentionally ignore it?
Marion looked at Kirk’s smiling face, momentarily speechless.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll head in.”
Seeing her expression change, Kirk dropped his casual smile. “I’m truly sorry if I offended you. I just wanted to tease you since you looked upset.”
Marion glanced at him. Regardless of whether he spoke the truth or not, he seemed sincere. She did not want to appear angry. “It’s okay. I’m just not in a good mood tonight.”
Not wanting to say more, she waved and was about to turn around when the villa gate suddenly opened.
Lucas, who was supposed to be hundreds of kilometers away, suddenly appeared in front of her. “Mrs. Craig, do you not want to come home?”
Lucas, in a suit under the streetlight, looked at her expressionlessly.
Marion’s heart skipped a beat. She had no time to care about Kirk and hurried over. “You’re home.”
Lucas looked down at her, his dark eyes slightly cold. “Am I not supposed to be home?”
