The CEO Gets What He Wants novel Chapter 132

When she walked out of the elevator, the receptionist told Cayden, “I'm sorry, sir. She claims to know you.”

Cayden nodded.

The receptionist left after seeing his response.

Avery gazed at him awkwardly and asked, “Did you see my grandpa?”

She was the one who vowed to leave his life but came back at night to ask him some questions.

Avery felt apprehensive and awkward, but she had to go all out, as Blake was missing.

“What's wrong with your grandpa? Is he not at home?” Cayden looked up from tying the strings on his sleeping robe.

Avery observed his expression and gaze. I don't think he knows where Grandpa is.

Her heart sank to the bottom of her stomach. Feeling helpless, she shook her head and pressed the elevator button with her shaking hand. She wanted nothing more than to leave right now.

Cayden took in her pale face and nervous gaze. He strode out to the elevator.

Picking her up, he ignored her struggles and tossed her onto the couch. As she tried hard to bite back her tears, he propped his arms before her and asked sternly, “What happened? Tell me everything now!”

Tears sparkled in Avery's eyes.

Right then, the kids trotted out of their rooms.

Rory was hugging a white teddy bear as she rubbed her eyes sleepily. In his haste to come out, Zachary even wore his house slippers the wrong way. He stared at the adults who were in a weird position on the couch.

“Go back to sleep. I need to talk to Ms. Ery.” Cayden turned at his shoulder as his brows snapped together.

Zachary pouted unhappily. Without a word, he led Rory back to the room. He didn't forget to gaze at Avery longingly before disappearing into the room.

Avery glanced at them.

Alas, she couldn't bring herself to smile at them at the moment.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

Avery pulled it out immediately as though she had been waiting for a reply.

It was a WhatsApp voice message from Nina.

“I didn't see your grandpa. What happened? Don't scare me, Ery. Did he go missing? Where are you? I'll head there right now. Don't be afraid!”

Cayden took her phone and typed out a reply: Don't bother.

With that, he gazed at her eyes under her long lashes. “I'll go put on some clothes. Wait for me.”

As he took her phone with him, she had to wait.

It looks like he wears suit jackets all year long. He is always organized.

As they both walked out of the condominium, they caught the attention of the management staff.

“They are a couple, right?” the receptionist asked another lady on duty.

The lady on duty was busy checking information and lifted her head to look at the couple walking away. “They are a couple, but they look like strangers. Otherwise, why didn't the young woman have a key? She needed us to bring her to the man's unit. She must be his mistress.”

“Perhaps they got into a fight. The man obviously cares about her. It doesn't seem like he's a cruel sugar daddy.”

The lady on duty didn't bother to hide her surprise. “Are you serious? She's just an ordinary woman! How dare she get into a fight with the man? Does she have a death wish? Or does she want to try to get herself dumped by the man?”

The receptionist pursed her lips and told the lady, “How is she ordinary? Can you find someone who looks as pretty as her without makeup on the streets? I'll admit defeat if you can find one like her.”

The lady on duty fell silent.

Cayden drove his Land Rover out from the parking lot and parked it at the entrance of his condominium.

Winding down the window, he glanced at her. “The subway is going to stop running soon. Are you going to take taxis all the time? I'm afraid your money will be all spent. What if you find your grandpa but end up with no money to treat your dad?” He was forcing her to get into his car and accept his help.

Even before they broke up, she had been using her money to treat her father and survive on her own. Now, she had to support her elderly grandfather, too.

The burden on her shoulders was too heavy.

Thus, she valued each and every cent that she earned.

After getting into his car, Avery leaned back in her seat silently.

“Do you have other relatives? Did you ask them whether your grandpa went to them?” Cayden drove in a steady manner. He planned to bring her back home, for there was a possibility Blake went home after getting lost. The elderly man might be locked out of his house right now.

“My relatives? If I can't get in touch with them, then there's no way Grandpa would have gotten in touch with them,” Avery told him after pondering for a moment.

In the car, Cayden gave Jeffrey a call.

Jeffrey said he wasn't with Blake. He also asked what had happened.

Cayden made up an excuse before ending the call. Glancing at Avery, he said, “Call the police. Don't worry. He will be fine.”

However, if Avery were to call the police, they would tell her that a report could only be made after the person had gone missing for at least forty-eight hours.

Cayden was rich, influential, and had connections. He gave Xavier a call and made the arrangements.

Xavier went to the police and explained everything to them. He also provided Blake's photo and information to the police.

After arriving at Avery's residential area, Cayden followed her upstairs.

The door was pushed open, and the house was completely dark and silent. Apparently, Blake was not back yet.

They went downstairs and searched every corner of the residential area.

Cayden even accompanied her to the streets outside the residential area. Alas, Blake remained nowhere to be seen.

It was the end of September, and the weather was chilly at night.

Avery didn't know whether it was the cool weather or her fearful heart that made her entire being tremble.

The police went to check the surveillance cameras nearby. There were no results for now, for most of the surveillance cameras were broken.

“Could it be that he returned to Livingsfill?” Cayden asked as he walked behind Avery.

Hearing that, Avery turned at her shoulder to look at him. Her eyes remained teary over the past few hours. It was late at night, and she looked like a pitiful girl who dared not go against anyone else in the world.

Cayden stepped forward and took her hand. Gripping it tightly, he pointed at his car parked by the street and suggested, “Why don't we head back to Livingsfill? The police can continue the search here.”

Avery had no other choice but to agree.

On the way to the town, Cayden insisted on giving her his suit jacket.

Indeed, Avery was freezing.

“Take a nap. I'll wake you up when we arrive.” Cayden lit a cigarette and wound the window down so the smoke wouldn't remain in the car.

He needed a cigarette to stay awake, as he was driving his car late at night.

Avery shut her eyes momentarily and opened them. Whenever she couldn't sleep, she would do her best to turn her romantic love for Cayden into familial love.

That way, she would feel less guilty.

Cayden was focused on his driving but noticed that she wasn't about to sleep. “What are you thinking about?”

Glancing at him, she replied, “I'm thinking that you're my superior and my boss, and perhaps I can see you as my brother...”

After flicking the cigarette ashes into the car ashtray, Cayden parted his lips and responded, “A brother? Do you want a brother that has sex with you every night?” His tone held a hint of mockery as though she had just said a joke.
