The CEO Gets What He Wants novel Chapter 263

The night was dark, and it was exceptionally quiet.

The two children had already fallen asleep, except for Avery. She was still working on her design drawing in front of her computer.

In fact, Avery was not in the mood to work anymore, but she had no other choice, as her mind would be filled with doubts once she stopped working.

It was soon eleven o'clock at night. Avery had been spacing out for quite some time as she stared at the computer screen.

It had been a whole day, but Cayden had yet to call her.

Avery went to take a shower to freshen herself up a little. After putting on her nightgown, she tried dialing Cayden's number again.

Deep down, she was afraid to hear the automated message telling her that his phone was still turned off. His phone rang for about one minute, and still, there was no answer.

Just as Avery was about to hang up, someone picked up the call.

“Hello?” A female voice rang out from the other side of the line.

Almost instantly, a mist began to form in Avery's eyes. She could feel her heart aching terribly. Nonetheless, she remained calm and said, “I'm looking for Cayden. Is he there?”

“Cayden? He's bathing now. Who is this? I'll ask him to return your call once he's done,” the lady answered.

Avery froze for a moment before ending the call directly.

The next second, she switched off her phone, attempting to escape from everything.

Avery adjusted her nightgown. Although the heater in the room had been turned on, she still felt cold.

The moonlight outside shone through the window, making her room appear rather lonely and desolate.

Avery's heart trembled. She felt extremely uncomfortable.

He's together with a woman in a room at this hour. That could only mean one thing. I remember how he told me that he would keep his phone turned on all the time so that I could contact him anytime. It's a warm promise. But everything sounds ironic now!

A sharp pang hit Avery's heart. She felt extremely depressed.

Meanwhile, in the premium business suite, Wisteria stared at the phone after the call. On the phone screen, Avery's name was displayed as “Ery.”

Her lips curved into a cold smile.

Swiftly, she deleted the recent call log and placed his phone on the table lightly.

Wisteria was smart enough to place it back in its original position. It was exactly the same as if she had never touched his phone before.

She had always been careful and would not allow herself to leave any evidence behind.

Cayden, who was done showering, walked out of the bathroom just as she put away his phone.

He was in his big bathrobe. On his gorgeous face, his mesmerizing eyes looked as cold as ice.

His thin lips seemed redder and more tender than a woman's. They looked captivating yet somehow out of place with his indifferent demeanor.

Cayden was even more beautiful and elegant than a woman. Someone like him could successfully make waves in the business world. With his intelligence, he managed to establish the large Trident Group.

To Wisteria, only a man like Cayden could match her.

“It's late now. Is there anything else, Ms. Summers?” Cayden's expression turned cold when he saw that Wisteria was in his room.

Raising her head slightly, Wisteria revealed her fair neck in front of Cayden.

She was in her sexy pajamas that night. At only one glance, the hot figure underneath her outfit could be seen clearly.

Wisteria had always felt confident in her charisma and that no man could resist her charm.

She smiled at Cayden seductively, looking like a mature woman and seductress at the same time.

She pointed at the hot supper on the table and said thoughtfully, “You've been busy for the whole day, Mr. Moore. You didn't even have the time for a meal. I just asked the chef to cook you some supper. Have some. Even if you don't feel like eating, you should really take good care of yourself for the sake of Trident Group.”

Cayden remained expressionless. “It's fine. I'm not hungry. You've worked hard today too, Ms. Summers. You should go back and get some rest.”

With that, he picked up his phone from the table.

Wisteria tried to hide her gaze from him.

Cayden did not find anything suspicious. He dialed Avery's number right away.

However, after several attempts, his calls could not get through. It was then he realized that Avery had switched off her phone.

His face darkened almost immediately.

Cayden had been busy settling the public relations crisis with the company's upper management the whole day. Besides, he had also been busy with drafting the mergers and acquisitions proposal.

For the whole day, he had been so occupied with work that he did not have time to eat or rest, let alone call Avery.

It was Cayden's plan to call Avery at the end of the day, as it was quieter at night. They could talk privately with each other.

However, he did not expect Avery to switch off her phone.

Knowing Avery, he knew that she would not go to bed until she received his call.

Those thoughts troubled Cayden and put him in a bad mood. He wanted to take a sip of water but realized that his glass was empty. He raised his hand and threw the glass away.

The glass hit the wall directly and shattered into tiny pieces.

Wisteria was shocked by Cayden's uncontrolled behavior.

She had always thought that Cayden was a calm person. He rarely gets angry. Is it because of that woman?

As that thought crossed her mind, Wisteria could not help but feel jealous of Avery.

She's just an ordinary girl! How is it that someone like her can make him angry?

Picking up another glass, she poured some warm water for him and asked gently, “Are you okay?”

Cayden frowned, and a fierce glint flashed across his eyes. He tried to suppress his emotions as he uttered, “Ms. Summers, it's getting late. You should go back and get some rest now.”

Wisteria was quick enough to notice the displeasure on his face, and the smile on her face froze for a moment. However, her tone remained gentle as she responded, “It's not good to get all angry at night. What's the matter? There's nothing that we can't solve.”

She cleaned up the glass shards on the ground. Just when she was about to say something more, the man shouted, “Get out!”

“W-What?” Wisteria was dumbfounded. She did not know how to react.

Cayden looked down at Wisteria, who was squatting on the ground to clean up the broken glass. “Ms. Summers, don't make me repeat myself!”

He didn't eat the supper that I got him, and I hurt my fingers trying to clean up these glasses for him, but he shows no concern at all despite my affection toward him. I can't believe he's now chasing me out.

Wisteria's cold eyes glistened with tears.

Although the Summers family was not the most prominent family, they were considered rich and powerful. Many people would attempt to butter the Summerses up for some personal gain.

Being a spoiled daughter of the Summers family, Wisteria had gone to great lengths to stay close to Cayden and become who she was today.

To receive such unexpected treatment from Cayden, she felt aggrieved and heartbroken.

“You should get some rest too, then. Eat something if you're hungry. The supper is not too heavy, so it's fine to eat it at night. I'll make a move now.”

Wisteria was a smart lady. She knew how to ease the tension for herself.

She also knew that Cayden hated women pestering him and that she might have crossed the line that day.

Pushing open the door lightly, she walked out of the room.

After she left, Cayden continued calling Avery, but to no avail. That caused his expression to grow colder.
