“I've long anticipated such an outcome. If Dylan refuses to divorce you, not only will his family be bankrupt, but he'll also face imprisonment.” Cayden looked at Avery tenderly and kissed her pretty nose lightly.
“Face imprisonment? What's that all about?” Confusion could be seen in Avery's dark eyes.
She was unaware that Cayden had collected a lot of evidence of Dylan's unlawful acts to compel him to get the divorce.
Naturally, Cayden had no intention of telling her as he believed that all she needed was to be happy at his side.
All tribulations and hardships shall be mine to bear alone.
His dark eyes seemed to have cast a spell on Avery, making her heart flutter uncontrollably, and she could not help but cover his eyes.
This man is truly a menace. His stare alone can cause butterflies in my stomach.
Cayden dragged her hand away from his eyes and drew his incredibly handsome face closer to her. “What are you acting all shy for, hmm?”
Avery's throat felt dry as she stared at his perfect features and his ambiguous smile that was filled with enticing mystery.
Before she could react, Cayden had already picked her up and moved toward the lounge suite further inside the office.
Despite being the CEO's office, it was equipped with a living room, bedroom, bathroom, study, and several additional spacious entertainment suites, all tailored just for Cayden's temporary leisure.
The interior design was very stylish and unique.
Furthermore, the space was well furnished with various appliances and furniture, even coming close to resembling a small opulent mansion.
Avery could only watch as Cayden carried her into the bedroom and locked the door.
The man was like a starving wolf, undressing her at record speed with his dark eyes glinting.
Startled, Avery lifted the quilt and was about to hide her naked body inside when Cayden stopped her and pinned her down.
His voice carried a flirtatious tone as he leaned close to her ear. “Don't be afraid. I will be gentle...”
Avery's ears and neck turned bright red.
Last night, he clearly said that he would be gentle, but he couldn't control his strength at all later on. Aside from the intense pain, I even felt as though my body was on the verge of breaking apart.
Because of that, she was unconvinced by his words.
Cayden leaned toward her and trailed butterfly kisses down her neck and across her jaw.
His husky voice was dripping with seductiveness. “It won't hurt this time. I promise...”
An intimate encounter began to unfold.
Avery fell deeper and deeper into his tender embrace while Cayden was mesmerized by every sensuous move she made.
They were so deeply entangled with one another in their intense passion that even the atmosphere turned exceptionally gentle.
The two swiftly changed back into their well-groomed attires following their steamy session.
Cayden gave her a gentle hug, his thin lips caressing her earlobe. “Attend a banquet with me tonight, Ery.”
Since he was determined to bring her into his world, he wanted to slowly expose her to others.
Since I've made my choice, I'll show her off instead of hiding her in the dark.
However, Avery was a little hesitant. “But, I've never attended that kind of banquet before. I'm scared that I'll...”
Deep down, she was still a little timid.
There will undoubtedly be many wealthy and well-known people at the banquet Cayden is attending. I've never attended an event like this, so I'm worried that if I go, I'll make him look bad.
“It's fine. You have me, so you need not be afraid. Since I've chosen you, I must show you off in front of everyone.”
Cayden handed her a gold card. “Take this card. After work, have Cecelia accompany you to the mall to buy some evening gowns.”
“There's no need for that. I hardly ever use the black card you gave me previously. It's still in my bag, so I can just use it if I buy clothes. I'll head back to work now.” Avery could not bring herself to accept another one of his cards.
Even though I work and receive a salary, I'll still feel a little strange if I constantly swipe his card.
At her persistence, Cayden lightly tapped her on the nose. “Why are you so courteous toward me? You'll eventually be my wife, silly.”
Avery's cheeks turned pink. She straightened her attire and fled back to the design department.
While working, Avery thought of Cayden's tenderness and thoughtfulness in bed earlier. She broke into a small smile and could not help but chuckle.
Cecelia noticed the contented expression on her face and subtly nudged her. “Earth to Avery. Come back to reality. Why are you looking so dreamy in this bleak winter?”
The nudge snapped Avery back to her senses. “What nonsense are you spouting?” she grumbled, her face slightly flushed.
Cecelia smirked. “Trying to argue back, huh?”
Avery threw a pen in front of the other woman and deliberately said fiercely, “Get back to your design drawing.”
After getting off work, the employees of Trident Group left the company one after another.
As Avery was attending a banquet that evening and had difficulty choosing on her own, she invited Cecelia to go dress shopping with her.
Since the latter understood fashion more than she did, she wanted to get her opinion.
Cecelia had nothing to do after getting off work, so she readily agreed.
That evening, she drove Avery to the largest shopping mall in Ackleton. They had just finished parking the car when they noticed Dylan's car parked to the side.
He was leaning against the car door with a young and beautiful short-haired girl beside him, holding his arm affectionately.
The girl appeared to be in her early twenties and dressed chicly. In addition to a variety of other sparkling diamond jewelry on her ears, she also had a diamond stud on her nose. However, she had a spoilt, haughty air about her.
Cecelia naturally spotted them as well. She patted Avery and said tactfully, “Why don't you guys have a chat? I'll wait for you at the entrance of the mall.”
Dylan quickly shook off the short-haired girl's arm and anxiously explained to Avery, clearly not expecting to run into her there, “She's my cousin. She just came back from studying abroad...”
“What a coincidence. I wasn't expecting to meet you here. Your cousin is beautiful,” Avery said sincerely with a subtle nod.
Dylan was stunned for a moment.
He could see that when Avery noticed other women standing next to him, there was no resentment or unease in her eyes—only genuine admiration.
Moreover, from the distant tone in her voice, she seemed to have already regarded him as a stranger.
There was only indifference in her gaze, which left a bitter feeling in his heart.
“Avery...” Just as Dylan was contemplating saying something else, the short-haired girl suddenly approached Avery, lifted her scarf, and shouted exaggeratedly and enviously, “Wow! This is a Hermes cashmere scarf! One of these costs hundreds of thousands. I can't even get one in foreign luxury stores, so I can't believe you managed to buy one. This can't be a knockoff, right?”
Cecelia smirked. “Trying to argue back, huh?”
Avery threw a pen in front of the other woman and deliberately said fiercely, “Get back to your design drawing.”
