Outside City Hall, Dylan locked his gaze on Avery's fair and delicate face, as if he wanted to carve her features into the depths of his mind.
Her white scarf had been expertly wrapped into a lovely shape, and her black hair was pulled back into a bun. With her face bare of any foundation and only a thin layer of cherry pink lipstick applied to her lips, she appeared charming and endearing.
She was so happy at that moment that her eyes were especially glistening.
What should I do? I really don't want to let her go.
“Avery, I'm aware that I used deceptive ways to get us married. However, will you agree to be with me if I make a change for the better and pursue you?” Dylan asked out of the blue.
“What?” Avery, who was immersed in the joy of divorce, looked up at him. She had missed what he had just said.
Dylan's tall figure loomed over her. “I asked for another chance to pursue you. Would you be willing to accept me?”
He looked at her expectantly.
His heart was pounding, even though he already knew the answer.
“That's impossible,” stated Avery firmly. She did not even bother giving it a moment of thought.
In an instant, a myriad of emotions surged through Dylan, but he suppressed them. Pressing his lips together, he uttered, “Avery, I'm serious. I'm not going to use any heinous means to get you again. I'm willing to do anything as long as you forgive me.”
“I've made it clear that it's impossible. Dylan, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. Please stop bothering me. Otherwise, don't blame me for being brutal!” warned Avery coldly.
The next moment, she waved her hand and hailed an empty taxi. She immediately opened the door and hopped in.
The taxi drove away, leaving only the horrible smell of exhaust behind.
Dylan's heart clenched as he watched her leave. Suddenly, he laughed self-deprecatingly.
Avery must truly despise me since she didn't even look me in the eyes when she left.
Avery directed the taxi straight to the company.
She wished to personally inform Cayden of the good news of her divorce.
Perhaps they did have a telepathic connection, for the moment she entered the company and arrived at the elevator, she received a call from Cayden asking her to go to the CEO's office.
Cayden was attentively reviewing documents when Avery entered the office. He did not seem to notice her arrival.
She walked up behind him softly, covered his eyes, and asked mischievously like a little girl, “Hey, guess who I am?”
“Hmm... Let me make a guess. Who was it that broke into my office? Tsk. These hands are so tender and soft, so they must belong to an extremely sexy seductress.” Cayden's large hand roamed across her body, even squeezing her ample bosom several times. Consequently, her face reddened in embarrassment.
Avery could not help but loosen her hands that were covering his eyes.
This man is so naughty! Who would have guessed that this charming man, who appears aloof and abstinent on the outside, was actually a pervert on the inside?
Cayden pulled Avery into his embrace and kissed her passionately.
“Mmm...” Like a restless bird, Avery flailed about in his arms.
She glanced nervously at the door, fearful that someone would walk in unexpectedly.
It was the CEO's office, and someone could walk in at any time to report work. How could she possibly survive in the company if they witnessed such an unsightly scene?
“Don't worry. Nobody would dare to enter without my permission.” Cayden looked at the beautiful woman in his arms and teased, “Ery, we haven't seen each other for a long time. Do you miss me?”
Avery was bereft of speech.
Is he kidding me? Who said we hadn't seen each other in a long time? Then who was the beast who tormented me last night?
Avery gave Cayden a flirtatious glare, but her breath was stolen away in the next moment by his intense kiss. As a result, her tiny, delicate face flushed a bright red.
A strand of slightly curly hair was stuck to Avery's neck. Cayden gently tucked the errant strand of hair behind her ear before wrapping his arms tightly around her.
Leaning over, he pressed his sexy, thin lips onto her cheek.
Compared to those women whose faces were covered in makeup every day, hers was different. Her skin was as soft and smooth as a newly peeled egg. It felt wonderful.
Cayden placed his large palm behind Avery's head, turning her face toward him.
He then kissed her lovely brows and worked his way down until he reached her lips.
She lost track of everything around her because of how soft and indulgent his kisses were. She even forgot to inform him that she had successfully divorced.
The temperature in the office began to rise.
After a few tender kisses, Cayden was no longer satisfied with just that.
He slowly inched his hands under her clothing.
Avery shivered from the coldness of the man's fingers.
Cayden's palm pressed firmly against Avery's slim waist. She finally realized what he wanted to do just as he was about to undress her.
Hurriedly grabbing his hand, she stated, “Cayden, stop messing around. We're in the company.”
Immediately, Cayden locked the office door with voice control. “It's okay. I've locked the door. No one can get in now.”
However, Avery felt it was inappropriate.
She believed that the office should be used only for work purposes and not for that.
The thought of her openly having an “affair” with Cayden in the office made her feel so ashamed.
Besides, she was not that bold.
Avery gripped her jacket tightly and refused to let go. When Cayden saw how resistant she was, he chuckled softly.
His voice was hoarse because of lust. “We've done it so many times already, so why are you still so shy?”
With that, he pushed up Avery's blouse and ran his rough palms over her smooth skin.
“Cayden, I have some fantastic news to share with you. Dylan and I have finally divorced.” Avery locked her gaze on Cayden, desperately trying to come up with a plan.
In order to stop his actions, she chose that moment to speak, hoping to divert his attention.
“Okay.” Cayden gave a rather lackluster response.
He had already forced Dylan into that precarious predicament. Dylan would have known what to do if he retained some intelligence and common sense.
Avery was dumbfounded.
Why is he so composed after learning of my divorce? Shouldn't he be as thrilled as I am?
